Any info on RLS and Chronic Kidney Disease?
Hello, fellow twitchers. My pertinent PMH: I spent 3 weeks in a coma after I fractured my skull in an MVA 35 years ago. My speech is sometimes slurred and I have impulse control issues. 20 years ago, I donated a kidney to my mom and shortly after that RLS started. A doctor prescribed Levodopa, then Ropinole

Sublingual B1
I have added comments to other posts but not written specifically on the subject of taking B1 sublingually, so, as I had received questions on the subject, I thought I would write a post. In 2017 when I first read about Dr C it was in connection with treating Parkinson with injections of B1. Injections

Can L-tyrosine replace L-dopa?
I tried it yesterday evening and it would seem that it does so to a small extent. Has anyone tried it?

Prolopa dosing
I live in the US and use
carbidopa
/
levodopa
and am familiar with it's dosing protocols. My mother in law lives in El Salvador and takes Prolopa which is
levodopa
and benserazide (instead of
carbidopa
). I understand that Prolopa and Madopar are essentially the same.

Grapefruit update?
A few months ago there were various posts and some suggestion that inhibiting CYP3A4 using Grapefruit juice, could prolong levodopa “on time “. What happened to that idea? Is there any update I might have missed?

Levodopa-Induced Euphoria and Addictions in Parkinson’s. It's of concern for people with neuropsychiatric fluctuations between ON and OFF.
I'm referencing a 2017 research article. Some people have more significant neuropsychiatric fluctuations between ON and OFF levodopa drug treatment states. These people seem to be more at risk for triggered addictive behavior and drug abuse. The conclusion of the abstract is "The psychostimulant effects

Severe Itching from natural L-Dopa
I'm new to this Forum, so please excuse my brevity... My husband has PD for over 10 years. He recently started dosing with 200 mg 100% L-dopa from Mucuna from NutriVita. It works very well for him. But not long after he got severe itching and even can't fall asleep because of it. Did anyone get a similar

C/L CR recommended for overnight treatment
I am currently taking C/L 25/100 every 2 to 2 and a half hours to total 500 mg from 9 AM to 6 PM. It has been recommended that I take C/L 50/200 CR at 9 PM when I go to bed to help me sleep, and also to provide L-Dopa during the long stretch of time at night when I am not taking the C/L IR. The

Do your feet get cold after eating...sugar?
In an attempt to reduce protein and fat interactions with levodopa absorption, I increased carbohydrates. What i thought was levodopa wearing off, turned out to be poly neuropathy aggravated by increased blood sugar. I noticed my feet getting cold after eating and googled feet getting cold after eating

EYE SPECIALIST FOR DIAGNOSIS?
My last two eye exams showed limited downgaze and from there my eyesight hasn't improved making it hard to read for any length of time. My head, neck and throat always feels tight. I don't have a neurologist because he didn't see what he wanted to see for Parkinson's and wasn't interested in my symptoms

Basic dopamine question
I'm hoping one ye clever cats can help me understand something. Dopamine is made in the following way: Phenylalanine -> tyrosine -> l-dopa -> dopamine Who is responsible for doing this? Is it the dopamine neuron job or is it just the neuron's job to deliver the dopamine across the brain once it's produced

MRgFUS Pallidothalamic Tractotomy for Chronic Therapy-Resistant Parkinson's Disease in 51 Consecutive Patients: Single Center Experience
1/14/2020 IMHO This is the very best option/therapy. "Results: The Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) off-medication postoperative score was compared to the baseline on-medication score and revealed percentage reductions of the mean of 84% for tremor, 70% for rigidity, and 73% for distal

Change to Carbidopa Levodopa CR, dykinesia, neck dystonia
I recently saw my Neuro and had my prescription changed from C-L to an equivalent dosage combination of C-L and C-L CR (sustained release) to reduce off time. I went from three times 1-1/2 25/100 C-L pills per day to a regimen of one 25/100 C-L plus three 50/200 C-L CR pills per day. A presciption of

Neupro review
I try again: who has used Neupro in the uncomplicated phase of PD and wants to share his/her experience? I could not tolerate Sinemet or Madopar, even with extra Carbidopa. I have built up Neupro till 8 mg now. It helps with anxiety, stiffness, but not much on my tremor.
