Statin Drugs and Prostate Cancer recurrence
Hello all. A month or so ago, I wrote about my hubby's blood test showing a calcium level of 134. Many of you good folks responded and some suggested that it might be a mistake. Well, it WAS a mistake. His blood calcium level falls within the normal range. We learned that the 134 figure was referring

Panic Attacks
For about two years, I've experienced panic attacks several times a week. The first time that I had one I went to the ER, because I thought I was having a heart attack. The main symptoms are a shortness of breath, a feeling of tightening in the chest, and an overall sense of weakness. I've had problems

I'm female, mid 50s and have osteoarthritis. I hope someone can answer a few queries. Is it normal to get severe flare ups with osteoarthritis or does that point to rheumatoid arthritis? Over the last 6 months, I've noticed that my body has been producing increased areas of bone e.g. right elbow and

Here we are again!
Hi everyone, Following on from the last bloods I had, my GP helpfully informed me that my folate level is fine, even though it is currently 4.7 (range 3.1-20). Does this sound right to you? Because to me that is suggestive that I need to supplement with folate. I have also started having strange symptoms

Even if you increase your bone density, you still have osteoporosis
Hi everyone, I was just looking over the updated Clinician's Guide to Osteoporosis and noticed something that bears mentioning on this forum. A lot of users seem to be focused on increasing their bone mineral density as measured by their T-score on a DXA test. American Bone Health recommends you focus

Alendronic acid quandary
After a recent DEXA scan I have found that I have osteopenia of the hips and some osteoporosis at L3 and L4. My doctor has put me on Alendronic acid tablets and 1200 mg calcium supplements(Adcal D3). After the first six days I had constipation and consequent haemorrhoids. I took the alendronic acid and

Gut and brain connection
I have had gut issues for a number of years. The medical people have come up with a DX IBS-C many times. In the past I have treated my problem with bentyl(drug to relax intestines) and metamucil. Neither seems to help anymore. I currently get a brain fog and pressure in my brain. It is difficult

Calcium scoring CT scan .. family related history
Hi all, New to the forum. I’m sure everyone here would rather not be, but from what I’ve read so far, it’s a great resource of reassurance, understanding and support, from the collective and varied experiences that everyone has had. So this is my story so far. I’m an above average fitness, healthy 54

Help understanding post Thyroidectomy numbers
Hi, Almost a month out of thyroidectomy. Do not have pathology back - both surgeon and endocrinologist are perplexed and frustrated, don't know if it is a staffing issue due to Covid or if I should be concerned by that. But I will hear tomorrow if it is now in (Endocrinologist). But the surgeon said

Potassium!
Has anyone else tried supplementing potassium to ease arrythmias? I've had a surprising result. Sorry for long post. Magnesium is the oft talked about one for AF or ectopics, and I added magnesium quite a while back, with a marginal though noticeable effect on damping ectopics. I recently checked

Could this be caused by PMR ?
I have had PMR for nearly 4 yrs, now down to 5mg pred'. I have now been told after blood tests, I have raised calcium and platelets, could this be connected to PMR and its relevant medicines. Have been told to take Lansoprol and Alendrolic Acid again, both of which I stopped taking, apologies for spelling

Unsatisfactory appointment
Yesterday's phone appointment left me confused so I had to phone up the breast care nurse. He questioned my next bone treatment not realising it was the 12 weeks that he'd prescribed. He offered me two months palbociclib, so I said I'd been having three and had planned my life around it. He questioned
