I have been diagnosed with Foci of Medial Calcific Sclerosis (VCM) after having a left temporal artery biopsy. Biopsy was negative for GCA. I have been suffering with PMR for over a year. I had cataract surgery and it instigated the GCA symptoms post-op. PMRPRO has been extremely helpful redirecting me to information about my diagnosis. I had a parathyroid adenoma removed January, 2021 after having calcium levels elevated for 8 years. Went undiagnosed all that time. Now I am suffering with the calcium complications. I am now tapering the Prednisolone dosage from 60Mgs. per my Rheumatologist directions. Down to 30Mgs. He wanted me to return to 9Mgs. I am still experiencing the headaches, jaw and scalp pain although reduced after 3 days. I am scheduled to see a Cardiologist soon because a previous X-ray showed calcification of the aorta. This diagnosis is very rare. My Rheumatologist never heard of it. There are so many knowledgeable people here I just thought I would put this out there. Thank God for this site. I would never have recognized the symptoms of GCA without it and I was able to get help. Thank you all.
