Iodine Content of Thyroid Hormones
Another document to try to help in understanding thyroid hormones. We have had many threads where the iodine content of thyroid hormones has been discussed. This has often not been understood. Sometimes it has looked as if iodine is an extra ingredient - not a fundamental part of the thyroid hormone

High iodine induces DNA damage in autoimmune thyroiditis partially by inhibiting the DNA repair protein MTH1
We see an awful lot of people "advised" (by anyone they talk to and most especially anyone who speaks beyond their understanding) to take iodine simply because the word "thyroid" has been mentioned in relation to their disorder. Doesn't seem to matter whether they have hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism

Any ideas as to the best multivitamin to take for Hashimoto's please?
Hi I am considering adding a multivit daily. And there are so many multivits available! What are the ingredients that hypothyroid people should avoid please? For example, I understand that selenium and iodine are 2 that are contraindicated Any others? iron? Can you recommend a multivit that you take

Graves, now 'hypo' after RAI, but always feel hot
I find it hard to manage over 23 degrees. Last summer was really difficult, and last week I had to hibernate with a fan. I was diagnosed with Graves, and had RAI in 1989. I have been 'hypo' ever since, and I thought that would mean I'd feel the cold but I don't. My TPOAb are slightly high eg 56 (0

Advice needed re nortriptyline please as preventative
Please can anyone help/advise me. I’ve had migraines since age 11 but over the last few years they’ve increased to two or four a week. I’m 64. I take rizatriptan and cocodomol(45mg) I’ve recently seen a migraine specialist who suggested nortriptyline as a preventative. I’m now taking 50mg at night

Peripheral Neuropathy and Sunshine
Hello, I suffer from severe small fibre neuropathy, worst in my legs and feet. I take pregabalin and sometimes codeine which calms it at night. Find summertime difficult as even a small amount of sun on my legs and feet causes a massive flare up of pain. Even happens through jeans or skirts. I can't

The Opioid Crisis - quite concerting!
As I’ve been reading through posts, I’m concerned that many of us fibro warriors are just prescribed highly addictive, liver&kidney damaging drugs, without being told more about the long term effects of heroin. Opioids are synthetic heroin. Morphine is heroin. Codeine is an opioid. Fentanyl is 50x stronger

Radiation for Graves..
Hi Diaagnosed in 2017 with graves after a 185 hear beat. I had the added bonus of atrial fibrillation which is my main enemy to this day. It is essentially ruining my life. Also diagnosed with celiac last year but that s okay..I avoid Gluten and everything is fine there. THE AFIB continues to be a problem

Worried about low platelets - do I have Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia? (CLL/SLL) When will I need treatment?
Bruising easily, cuts bleeding readily and taking a long time to stop, small, flat, pinhead sized red, purple or brown dots under the skin (petechiae) are all symptoms of a low platelet count. So when is a low platelet count potentially dangerous and what can be done? Firstly, having low platelets

Codeine
Does anyone else react to codeine? I was advised a few years ago to avoid codeine in case it affected my breathing (by a decent GP and by a consultant). So I have. But other drs have looked at me like I'm insane (I probably am but that's unrelated!) and said there's no risk that they know of. Googling

Phase 2 study of acalabrutinib in ibrutinib intolerant patients with relapsed/refractory CLL
This is another study reporting that Acalabrutinib is effective in patients who are intolerant of Ibruitnib. This Phase 2 trial evaluated acalabrutinib, a highly selective, potent, covalent BTK inhibitor, in IBR-intolerant pts with R/R CLL. Pts with R/R CLL (≥1 prior therapy) who discontinued IBR due
