Making a summary of your asthma to use in A&E/with paramedics: what these are and why they can help
Hi all, It's come up a couple of times recently that people have had less than ideal experiences with emergency care for asthma. I thought I'd post something about the summary I created and use when I need to go to A&E, which I know other 'regulars' have also found helpful. EmmaF91 has made a template

Ordered my nebuliser today😊
Recommended by GP to get a nebuliser so I can do saline nebs to help my lung clearance. To avoid the inevitable long waiting list to be dealt with by NHS for this, I took advice and have today ordered a Pari boy classic machine for myself, which will arrive ( postal strikes permitting) on Monday.

Asthma flare up due to anxiety
Because of everything that I am dealing with and no real outlet (yet) my asthma is not being triggered. I had the worst asthma flare up I couldn’t catch my breath at all yesterday not even a nebulizer treatment and 4 inhaler would work. Had to go to the UC to get put on a steroid to get my breathing

Asthma a and e
hi I have just got home after an admission for 24 hrs to a nd e and AAU . It was the most frustrating and poor experience I have ever had.It was in the hospital which I work in as a nurse. I now am terrified to go for help. I have cough variant asthma and was initially triaged to GP who said I needed

🎠The mask slipped😪
My gp surgery managed to crack my facade and make me cry. I finally managed to speak to a person to ask why prescription for nebuliser hadn't been fulfilled. (They fulfilled prescription for ampoules to be nebulised but no nebuliser!) The rudeness and unhelpful attitude beggers belief. I know gps

Little blue pills and linctus
The helpful palliative care consultant at Harefield has prescribed for me Oxycodone tablets and codeine linctus. These are to try and manage the worst of my symptoms, coughing and breathlessness. So far they are helping. Though I'm having to go to bed early I've been very busy. Last week I had yoga

Old but new here.
Hello. I wanted to share my history while new, so people can get to know me and what I have gone through, and hope to learn from others what their stories are, in hopes of finding something new to help me and to share what has helped me as well. My body feels like I am a hundred years old. My spirit

Stopping Montelukast
In June 2020 i was given a diagnosis of Severe/ Brittle Asthma and was put on Montelukast, Carbocisteine and Spiriva and was told to buy a home nebuliser. Now my Dr has recently advised me to stop taking Montelukast but hasn't given a reason even though he knows that this was what brought my asthma under

DO YOU STERELISE YOUR NEBULISER EQUIPMENT
I've found a very useful way to sterilise it .. They are BIMIRTH Resuable Microwave bags.. I got 16 bags which can be used up to 20 times .. they're for baby stuff but great for your nebuliser bits I paid around £10 for them on Amazon

Pseudomonas and Colomycin nebs
Hi, I just wondered how long you’re usually prescribed nebulised Colomycin for? I had 3 month course last year, then it was stopped, but due to repeated infections I was prescribed another course but for 6 months this time (or until my next review)? I’ve had a review today and although I’ve not had

Recent admission and now what
My asthma has been out of control for the past few weeks, I think mainly due to hay fever. Then I got covid, got antivirals and felt mostly ok. After 6 days tested negative and started a course of steroids for 5days to calm my chest down as it was even less happy. I felt great again 3days after stopping
