Gentamicin and Ciprofloxin - update 1
Eventually got the right Gentamicin after pharmacist tried to give me the wrong one. Reordered but still the vial looked different to the one that the socialist nurse had used on my test dos. Pharmacist could not confirm as she could not find any info for me. My GP away and another GP was unsure if it

So I've finally got a referral to see a specialist. I was in a&e 10 days ago with a mild attack which I'm now not even sure was an attack. Woke in the night with thick clear mucus that is clogging my throat and chest. Nebs are the only thing that seem to help but everyone reminds me the evidence says

Very upset
So I am new to this forum, and can't thank Asthma UK enough for their help. However, I have been back and forth through out of hours doctors, duty doctors and A&E this week, as as you know Asthma exacerbations never happen at a good time. Would like to know if anyone else receives dramatically conflicting

Bedtime Is Blissful...
There was a time...in the dim and distant past...when I could stay up until midnight without a bother. Reading perhaps or watching a film on television...then in the latter part of our working years we'd often need to go to meetings held in towns miles away so we'd be late coming home. But now it's

Alcohol during asthma exacerbations
Random question: do you or don't you avoid alcohol during an exacerbation when on Prednisolone & nebulisers etc? (talking about equivalent of 1 small glass of wine in 24 hours rather than binge drinking!) I get really bad shakes & heart racing from the salbutamol nebs & having a small drink helps take

Another hospital stay
Hi Everyone I'm on Seretide 250 (2 puffs twice a day) I got cold symptoms so added in Flixotide 250 (2 puffs twice a day) as well as added regular Salbutamol & Atrovent. I'm already on Montelukast and started Prednisolone and antibiotics on the advice of my GP. 2 days later I had to go to A & E twice

Frustrated! Uncommon disease and lack of understanding at hospital when having exacerbation of condition
I have Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis - otherwise known as Extensic Allegic Alveolitis! Have been on Prednisolone for over 2 years now and gradually reduced down to 7.5mg daily since February this year. It has become clear that this dose doesn't help my condition as much as 15mg did. On that dose, I was

So many things going on...hard to keep track!
My husband has been battling COPD and Fibrosis for many years. He also has cardio myopathy and congestive heart failure. He was told 8 years ago that he had two more years to live (thank goodness they were wrong). Since then he was diagnosed with Diabetes, had a Triple A surgery (Abdominal Aneurism

Asthma attacks/fighting the caregiver
Hi all, I'm new here. My dad is 91 and was diagnosed with Parkinsonism maybe 7 years ago. His latest neurologist says his Parkinsonism may be PSP. He can no longer walk, even assisted on both sides because his legs are permanently contracted in a crossed position. His other worst symptoms are asthma

Conflicted feelings
So I posted a whinge here last week after winding up in A&E so I apologise for doing it again! Was in A&E again today after ringing the gps surgery and being told just to go straight there. Usual straight into resus; bloods, X-rays, back to back Nebs, once the peak flow is nearer my higher score I
