Hair after DBS surgery
I realize that hair growth is not high priority to people who have a disabling disease like Parkinson's, but I am curious to know how long after DBS surgery it was before the hair over the incision started to grow back. I really am not overly vain about appearance, but I am tired of wearing scarves

The world just keeps on turning
An old friend of ours died suddenly recently of a
brain
haemorrhage
which is so tragic and I really do feel for her family.

DBS a week later
Friday I underwent the second procedure of the stimulator being wired up to the portals into my cranium. This was a 45 minute same day event. It is actually a little more painful post event due to the tunneling of the wires from the subclavicular site of the stimulator up to the top of my head. All

Now im much better
Seems id suffered a
haemorrhage
of the
brain
stem. Eventually, after a shunt was fitted, i was stable enough to have the operation to use a laser on a cluster of aneurysms on the brain stem that where due to burst. Performing this tricky operation was Mr Gordon Brocklehurst.

Thyroid Cancer
Has anyone had any experience with any alternative therapies to treat papillary thyroid cancer? Is surgery the only choice?

DBS stage one Request for PMOS unknown
Monday I underwent the first stage of DBS at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. The procedure is done under full anesthesia utilizing a previous MRI and a small cat scan during surgery to accurately target the treatment site that for me was the Globus pallidus internus. During the prep

Pre DBS musings... making the blind eye see
Next week this time, I'll be in surgery for DBS at OHSU in Portland OR under the care of Dr Kim Burchiel, one of the worlds leading authorities on PD. I find myself anticipating the best outcomes knowing that it is not a cure but rather a symptom management with less drugs. I, too, dislike loading

Dbs surgery -- if you have had dbs surgery please tell me about your experience after the electrode implant.
I have had the stage 1 surgery and it is a month before the second stage controller implant. In the meantime , my Parkinson's symptoms have gotten so much worse. After the second stage, it will be 3 more weeks before the programming. I can barely function now. I am afraid that after the 2nd surgery

Hi Everyone - update
Hi, after months of feeling poorly and seeing one private endo. I went to see a different one and they have found I consistently have an elevated FT4 level with a normal TSH. They have suggested this could be secondary hyperthyroidism and I require some more detailed bloods. Has anyone else got this

Boston Scientific's "Vercise DBS System"
Anyone here in Europe or Australia that has with the "Vercise DBS System"? It apparently stimulates with shorter pulses and a 25 year battery.
