My type 2 diabetes
Hello there, hope everyone is healthy today! I’m 26 years old male from India. Two years back, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I visited the doctor for some other reason. It was no surprise to me as both my parents have type 2 diabetes and I am also moderately obese with no physical activity

Distortion of Hba1c test with levo
Hi Someone asked me to give further info about my claim that HbA1c tests cannot be relied upon if you are being treated with levothyroxine. I can't find that request now so I'm starting a new thread. The clearest statement is on the American Thyroid Association website.
WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS

What I learned about steroids and blood sugar levels from wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on the ZOE program
I’ve just finished using a CGM for 2 weeks as a paying participant in the ZOE study, which I mentioned in a previous post: https://healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk/posts/149526653/ive-signed-up-for-tim-spectors-zoe-study-looking-at-blood-sugars-and-gut-health Many PMR and GCA patients, self-included, have

Is my t4 to T3 conversion looking ok & vit D advice please
I’ve had lots of good advice here and would welcome views on latest test results from Blue Horizon. Do my T4 and T3 results look ok, am I converting well? Is there anything on the results I should be mindful of? Can someone remind me of a good Vit D supplement? The link to the Vit D calculator suggests

How much does Vitamin B affect test results?
I retested my T3, T4 and TSH after 6 weeks since my last test. I hadn't changed the dose of my T3 or T4 medications but just wanted to check things. The results were virtually the same as before. Then afterwards I realized that I'd forgotten to stop taking my Vitamin B suppliments. So my question is

Is it safe for me to use atorvastatin, a statin medication, to lower my cholesterol levels while also taking levothyroxine?

B Complex and urine colour
Hi there, After recommendations on here following my posting my Vit B12 results I have started taking the Thorne Vitamin B complex. My urine is now almost florescent yellow? Is that expected or does it mean I should stop taking it? Cheers, Ellie

LCHF / IF for August?
Hi all The title means Low Carbohydrate High Fat / Intermittent fasting. Both are ways of eating that can help people loose weight without the need to count calories or eat less and without the need to go hungry. Both ways of eating can also help to ease several health conditions. IF and LCHF work

Plant Sterols for reduction of cholesterol
Not necessarily related to PMR as I have had high cholesterol since I first started having blood tests years ago. My 'good' and 'bad' have always been about the same level. My current GP suggested statins. I declined. She then suggested trying plant sterols. I've ordered a couple pf packs from

ferritin and Levo dose
Guidance please. GP did a blood test including iron as was feeling tired, cold and shaky. Currently on 100 Levo. I never have changed brand and always do a test 9am without medication within 24 hrs beforehand etc. These are results ; no t3 tested for some reason but historically has always been in range

Vitamin B complex
Hello I am hypothyroid, take 75 or 100mcg levothyroxine daily. I started out a couple of years ago with some vitamin tests that showed low vitamin D & low folate. I supplemented with D3/K2 & methyl folate & felt well. I would occasionally use the Better You B12 spray for good measure. This week I switched

Hello, I have not been diagnosed with kidney disease, and actually do not think that what I have is primarily kidney disease - although the kidneys seem to be involved. I am posting my story here (or, some of it - since it is quite long and involved) in case anyone may have some advice for me, or if

Blood tests ahead of endo appt
NHS referral still pending ("on the waiting list") so am paying to see one of the consultants privately in the mean time. Latest blood test results from Wednesday last week (all done before 9am, fasting, etc etc). My TSH has increased from last medichecks blood test in February, while T4 has dropped

Statins and Malcolm Kendrick's: The Great Cholestrol Con!
I saw Helvella's post regarding the article in the Guardian on NHS checks; I did post this elsewhere, but I guess would only be visible to folk following the original post, so I thought it may be helpful to post separately. Some on here may well be aware of this work: The work of Malcolm Kendrick

'But you look OK'
I don't look OK, spinal curvature, so I've never had this. Can folks explain to me where the idiots who say this are coming from? Broken limbs, skin conditions, people don't look OK. Systemic conditions, heart, liver, kidneys, GI, people being correctly treated look OK. My SIL has myeloma - but she
