Collagen for Hair Growth?
Hello everyone. My hair has got worse (thinning and brittle) since being on T3/T4 combination therapy so I've been looking at what makes hair healthy and collagen keeps popping up as good nutritional support. I've also discovered another reason could be that I've been taking too much selenium and perhaps

Niacin
Hi there I had a Niacin flush on Jarrow b right vit bs so thought it might help if I swapped to Vitablossom hoping that might be better! But had flush again last night! Would anyone have a recommendation for good B vit’s without the Niacin.

Annual Medication Review
I would be very grateful if any of you lovely people can give me some advice. I have received a text from my GP surgery to book my annual medication review appointment, I can stretch this out for about 5/6 weeks if I need to. I was started on 50 mcg of Levothyroxine in December 2022 and had it increased

anti NMDA encephalitis
Hi! My husband had HSV1 encephalitis in March-April 2023, then anti NMDA encephalitis May-August 2023. He had the steroids, the plasma exchange but it was the Rituximab that finally got it sorted. I’m just looking to connect with anyone that has suffered with it or their families?! We don’t have

Oh dear 😤
I’ve spent an annoying few weeks feeling dizzy, falling over, being sick and slurring my speech, feeling confused. No fuel in tank at all. BP spiking inexplicably. Still trying to get this sorted out at Primary Care Level as waiting list in secondary care in NW England is longer than my life expectancy

Stopping meds before blood test
I'm just wondering what the latest info is regarding stopping meds? I normally take 1/2 my T3 12 hours prior and then I take my T4 and the other half of T3 after the test but I seem to recall someone on here telling me this was wrong? Also, how long to you need to be free of Biotin for? Thanks a lot

A Shingrix thank you
Hi, I just wanted to thank so many of you who have spoken of your side effects with the second Shingrix, yet being worth it. It was when I recently read here that being only half vaccinated was still being open to Shingles that spurred me into getting the second one today, after 2 1/2 years. After

Biotin and FT4/FT3 testing
We have seen discussions about the effect of biotin on thyroid tests (TSH, FT4 and FT3). This paper has the singular advantage of concentrating on the results for a single person in particular circumstances. That means, we see the specific effects of the biotin on one assay but not on another. Very

pain?
Anybody else have pain on waking, from hips and legs up to arms & shoulders--not explained by exercise or lack thereof? Can barely hobble about the house to get my meds and feed the cat. Sometimes it helps to tighten all the muscles to form an upright posture--but as soon as I loosen them to move, it

Feeling woefully undermedicated……
Hi everyone, A friendly nurse practitioner agreed to run some blood tests for me this week. I remain undiagnosed. I’ve been using Metavive since January and have been trying to switch over to Thyroid S for a couple of months. I’m finding it very difficult to increase my dose (unpleasant side effects

Recurrent meningitis
Hi, I'm looking to connect or share experiences with anyone who has had multiple cases of meningitis and is currently at risk of meningitis due to a csf leak? My csf leak is from a traumatic injury and I've had 3 surgical attempts to fix the leak. I've had 2 cases of meningitis, and both were before

The problematic 2nd dose of the day
Good evening. Wondering if anybody else experienced similar or if you’ve any idea why the following happens: my first CL of the day works reasonably well (although I only get two hours of relief from it). The second thought is really bad: after my first dose I go badly off (it’s been getting worse as

DBS awake or under general anesthesia
I've been told that for my DBS operation I will be under general anesthesia. I'm just wondering what others have experienced. I like the idea of a good sleep and waking to find the operation over but I was under the impression that when done awake the patient can indicate when the probes are correctly

For those who take Biotin - how much should I take?
Hello, I'm experiencing thinning and brittle hair despite good Vit D, Ferritin, Folate and B12 levels. I've been doing some investigation as to the potential causes and it seems I'm taking too much Selenium (350µg)but I'm not sure about ideal Biotin levels (I'm currently taking 100µg daily). I had

Collagen powder and increased stiffness?
Recently, my husband experienced a distressing episode of extreme stiffness. He described it as a sensation of having someone squeeze him at the base of his brain (he had DBS in 2022), causing him to feel extremely stiff in his head, shoulders, neck and arms. In general, stiffness is his issue, but

Like everyone, I'm trying desperately to get my antibodies at an optimal range. I currently take 75 mcg of Tirosint and also something called T-150 by Xymogen, which my functional doc prescribed. (It's basically a bovine, multi-glandular, mineral, and herbal formula to support healthy thyroid function
