I know it's 9 months since your surgery EHJF but have you thought of speaking with the specialist neuro nurse at the hospital where you were treated ? They're extremely knowledgeable and (in my experience) happy to offer support and advice after discharge.

Your symptom sounds like nerve pain, but a professional opinion is best, and might lead to further investigation and/or reassurance.. Cat x

My husband had a TBI and a craniotomy 3.5 years ago, and subsequently a cranioplasty. He has always complained of what he calls 'pingling'. It's a cross between tingling and pins and needles. However this is predominantly in his arms and hands, but does affect both sides. When it's really bad, tends to be worse at nighttime and in the morning , it can affect his full right side though.

Sadly we have never found a solution, but my thoughts have always been around nerve damage. He has quite a few cranial nerves damaged, including the accessory nerve, so i am pretty sure it's related to that.

I would suggest speaking with your consultant, but maybe a neuro physio could give some exercises to help alleviate the symptoms?

HI EHJFAsking the pros is always best.

I didn't have that op though had pins and needles and shooting nerve pains for quite some time after the injury, plus some parts of my body weren't picking up the phone for messages for awhile.

physio helped, I took B6 as per gp, and time seemed to do the most good - you mileage of course will vary - it's a bit hard to take sometimes but it seems to go away.

The only remainder I may have is my left arm tends to fall asleep easily.

After my severe hypoxic brain injury, my hand would tingle like it was on fire. The good thing is, this is an indication that brain healing is occurring, kinda like a cut or scratch will itch. Taking an SSRI might help. Still understand that the tingling is only a short lived thing. Depending on the severity of the injury, and the amount of healing occurring, it should subside with time.
