FutureLearn Liver Courses and Mental Health
Some of you will know of the two online liver courses that were run by FutureLearn. These were "Liver Disease: Looking after Your Liver" and "Liver Transplant". I, like so many have done both these courses, scoring 91% and 98% which surprised me at the time. I was therefore disappointed to learn

Confused /scared about Covid 19
Hi there I’m guessing that a lot of people are in the same boat about Covid19. My husband recently underwent a stem cell transplant for ALL and is now taking immunosuppressant medication. I currently work part time in the retail sector and I’m really confused and anxious about what to do for the best

Coronavirus, a Fashionable way to die? medical care in America is broken, among the things that make me mad.
Terminal illness is a fate that awaits us all. We know not the pathways of our personal journey only that we will take one of those paths in a time not of our choosing. I live in the land of the chronically ill. It is that time between health and end stage disease. The Foundation's niche is fatty liver

What is “Public Comment” and why should I participate?
Do you ever wonder how you can influence change when it comes to the development of policies in the world of organ transplant? When the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) begins to investigate how to solve any current policy issues regarding organ sharing and regulation, they provide

Is it worth to get transplanted?
I have been following the forum in this site for a while. However, everytime I read many of the threads, I end up wondering if it is worth going through it. Currently, I am relatively healthy, although my creatinine is 3.6, my BUM is 49, and my GFR is 13. I have been in the list for almost a year. I

First Face-to-Face With Other CKD Patients
I am a 76 yr old, live alone woman who has long prided myself on my independence. The CKD stage 3 diagnosis in 2019 left me feeling very alone and frightened. Both pcp and nephrologist seemed unconcerned about my CKD and I knew no one else with renal problems. After many hours and weeks spent searching

can a kidney transplant be performed when the filtration rate is between 15 and 20%?
Hi. I am new to the forum and to ckd, transplant, etc... still trying to get oriented... Has anyone been told by a hospital that they wouldn't even be registered for a transplant if they are not below 15%?

An Early Look at When CAR-T Therapy Fails Patients With CLL
Not exactly an optimistic report. Dr James Gerson, MD, - "Not a lot is known as to what happens in the patients for whom CAR-T therapy does not work,” “Anecdotally, we say that patients often progress rapidly and aren’t able to get further therapies, but it’s not something there’s a lot of data for.

Ibuprofen for pain - level of risk to kidney transplant
Greetings all, I am new to the forum and have a question about treating arthritis. I am 67 and had a kidney transplant back in 1999. I am in very good health except for experiencing moderate to severe arthritis pain, especially following exercise. Ibuprofen (200-400 mg dose) seems to be the only remedy

Yoga after kidney transplant
Hi! I’m a few months post kidney transplant and loving getting back into my yoga practice. Anyone been through this? How long did it take you to be able to lie on your stomach comfortably/without too much pain to do poses like cobra/seal? (I’m thin with a huge new kidney that sticks out!). And secondly

Do anyone need Hemodialysis Home Supplies?
Hi everyone, We are newly home from a liver and kidney transplant and have a large number of dialysis supplies that we no longer need. We had just ended our first week of home dialysis when we got the call for the transplant. The supplies are new and in unopened shipping boxes. I hate to see this go
