Hyponatremia, Raynaud's and P.S.V.T

I recently was taken to hospital with a bad episode of P.S.V.T., a condition I've had since I was eight. Blood tests showed that my sodium level was a bit low. It has been at the sub-clinical level for some time. Raynaud's which I have had since my 20's suddenly began to cause me problems: Pains and blotchy finger joints and chilblains. I am also feeling very depressed and lethargic. My bisoprolol has been increased to 2.5 mg daily and I have been started on nifedipine. My GP has also referred me for blood tests. Does anyone know whether my symptoms are related?

I'm not sure I can help. I haven't had any of the other issues that you have. I take 2.5 mg of Bisoprolol, along with Ramipril for a specific issue related to a Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction. I haven't had any major issues with it. I hope you can get some answers to the symptoms you have.

Hi Mstislav. Sorry your not feeling too well. I take 5mg of Bisoprolol I felt lethargic and light head. I've split my table in half now taking half when I wake and the half at 8pm. I feel back to normal. When I was on 2.5 I took it at night and didn't really experience problems then. I hope your tests show up some conclusions as to why your not feeling great at the moment. Best wishes.

All I can say is Bisoprolol made my Hr go too low for me, think it did cause other issues too but I cut it lower and lower and my consultant said it was barely doing anything 🤷🏼‍♀️

You need to concentrate on sodium levels, we’re encouraged to cut out salt but we need it’. There must be advice here about salt level and heart issues.

Hi Mstislav. I was diagnosed with Afib, along with heart failure this past November, as for a beta-blocker I was initially prescribed metaprolol at 75 mgs. a day, but was then bumped up to double the dose at 150 mgs split between day and night. This proved to be too much, it was causing anxiety issues as well as sleep issues, so another cardiologist prescribed bisoprolol instead at a dose of 5 mgs. a day. I realize everyone is different with these medications so this is only my opinion on it from my perspective, it has cut back the anxiety issues for me, not 100%, but it's better, also the sleep has been better, but it still will slow you up, at least it does for me. I just can't exercise like I used to, and for me that's very depressing. I also am taking Furosemide at 40 mgs. a day for fluid issues. Because of taking it I watch my electrolites, I am supposed to cut way back on sodium, so I keep a keen eye on different foods, but it is still needed, I also keep an eye on the others such as potassium, magnesium and calcium. So, I take the full 5 mg. dose of bisoprolol around morning with a bit of food. Some people do well on bisoprolol, some do not, that is the frustrating part with beta-blockers, I believe all of them slow you up, it's finding the right ones (for you), with trial and error.

I have never experienced this. Beware and follow your instructions on Bisoprolol. It is very

effective and must be followed to the letter unless your Drs intervene. Have a good day.
