Aortic dissection and travel

I had an unplanned emergency aortic dissection at the start of the year, and am luckily recovering well. Still on beta blockers and warfarin. I'm not having 'ongoing treatment' just taking the medication, so what should I answer on travel insurance questions pls?

My mum had an Type A aortic dissection

So yes- as said in the title, my mum had a very unexpected type A aortic dissection on Boxing Day. She managed to recover (had some fluid around lungs+heart/irregular heart beats but was reassured that this is very common after huge surgeries).

Is my FT4 too high to add T3?

I’m from the USA and glad I found this group. So I had a thyroidectomy for papillary cancer. I’ve been on T4 synthroid for 3 years. Various dose changes throughout. The goal is to suppress the TSH. No matter the dose change, my FT4 hangs at the higher range. In July 2021 I had central left neck dissection

Daily struggle with anxiety

She had aortic dissection, and I constantly worry that I have that too since it’s genetic. I recently got a divorce from my husband when we were together 10 years. It was painful and Although I am dating someone new, it hurts and I miss him all the time.

Potassium!

Part of the reason I did this was from a hospital stay 4 years ago when my AF restarted due to an aortic dissection. The hospital said my K levels were in range, but that "we like you up the top end of the range" and gave me some horrible tasting K supplementation (sachets).

IBS general: my experience

Dear all, it's been a while since I posted this, so here it is: This is my general approach to help people understand and repair their gastro-intestinal (GI) performance after being diagnosed with IBS. Abdominal pain from shots?

I have had constant upper abdominal pain for two weeks. I had been titrating my sc injections because of side effects. I use hydroxy. When I did a 500 mcg. dose the abdominal pain started that day. I waited ten days to do my next shot and only too 250 mcg. My abdominal pain is the same. Nothing else

Cll and skin cancer - An update and a warning.

You may recall I had a neck dissection followed by 6 weeks of intensive radiotherapy which finished about 6 weeks ago. This was to treat SCC of the parotid gland which had spread to lymph nodes in my neck I got through all of that ok and managed the side effects from the RT. Even my CLL was in remission

Who else waiting too long for time critical surgery?

Just lost our 29 year old daughter to an aortic dissection. Surgeons that night did their best I am sure but she was awaiting aortic surgery delayed since March - too long! How many others are out there that are not getting their needed surgery?

Looking for correct group

Can anyone please advise if there is an HU group for my circumstances. I have SCC from parotid gland which has spread to neck lymph nodes. It's been removed by neck dissection and I'm on day 2 of Radio Therapy. Looking for support for the side effects of RT as well as recovery from the surgery. Thanks

Parasympathetic Nervous System - Vagus Nerve

As many of you know along with AF I suffer from a relatively rare (we think?) condition called Myasthenia gravis which is a neuro muscular condition which most people haven’t heard of but has a similar affect to MS but through a different mechanism. For over 7 years I have been chasing missing bits

Advice on levothyroxine, supplements and possible T3 addition after thyroid cancer and treatment

Advice on levothyroxine dose, supplements and possible T3 addition after thyroid cancer and treatment I’m looking for some guidance/advice on a few issues if possible as feeling pretty lost and a bit overwhelmed on what to do next. I’ve been reading a lot of posts and information on here for a few months

Good news - Stage IIIB

Hi all, just wanted to share good news. I have had clear scan results today after being diagnosed with Stage IIIB, non small cell, adenocarcinoma in 2014, aged 43. My prognosis at the time was poor and I was told I was inoperable, terminal and treatable with palliative care. Discussions were around

I hate Anxiety

An aortic dissection? A stroke? No Shutup brain. You’re gonna be ok. This will be over soon. Right? Right, sure, ok. Just don’t let anything bad happen to me. Please God. Deep slow breaths. Here comes the chest discomfort and bobble head feeling. Ok you can cry now it’s over.

Aortic dissection

Hello, My partner (32) underwent an emergency aortic dissection 7 weeks ago (16th March). The operation lasted 12 hours and was very complicated including being resuscitated twice and 2 blood diffusions. He left the operating theatre in a critical condition.
