Stiff neck post OHS
On the 10th-11th September I had a sternumectomy (as used in bypass surgery) for an
aortic
dissection
repair and had my
aortic
valve replaced. I'm really on the way back now and feel fantastic and am back to 50 min, 5.5km walks and even gentle running.

Enlarged heart
My mum passed away from
aortic
dissection
a short while ago and as a result I have been referred for genetic tests. It appears I now also have mild dilation of the thoracic aorta.

thanks to those who replied to my question the other day about my gp wanting to reduce my meds (I have no thyroid following removal along with neck dissection due to papillary thyroid cancer). I that issue is resolved for now but I realised I am poorly informed about thyroid function tests and interactions

post Papillary Thyroid Cancer
had full thyroidectomy and neck dissection in May 2022 which removed 24 lymph nodes and 2 parathyroid glands as well. All good, apparently now cancer free. Was not able to have RAI as had apparently had thyroiditis (picked up when thyroid examined post op). Was on 100 mg levothyroxine and felt

Update to Chest Pain
Bloodwork, Cat Scans (to rule out
aortic
dissection
), xrays, echocardiograms, and stress tests revealed that my heart is actually in excellent shape -- I must have either pulled a muscle (very possible), or the high dosage of prednisone has irritated my esophagus (although I take it with PLENTY of food

Aortic Disease Guideline for 2022 from the ACC/AHA is out!
The third change is a strong recommendation that first-degree relatives of anyone with an aneurysm of the
aortic
root or ascending aorta, or with an
aortic
dissection
, should be screened with
aortic
imaging.

Being warned of deterioration

Expiration date
After reading about the (supposed?) shortage of B12 in UK, I, too, am wondering if PanPharma’s shortened expiration date from 2 years to one year has contributed to this perceived shortage. Have we gotten the final answer on why PanPharma shortened their expiry date? Does anyone know if the inactive

I’m new here, but wanted to share a positive message and touch on post heart attack mental health
I’m 58 and suffered a heart attack (STEMI), on a plane followed by cardiogenic shock in April 2022. I have 5 stents fitted to two arteries supplying my heart. I went into cardiogenic shock shortly after the first 4 stents were inserted during the heart attack. I was taken into intensive care and had

Besremi has (No?) Preservative

My mum had an Type A aortic dissection
So yes- as said in the title, my mum had a very unexpected type A
aortic
dissection
on Boxing Day. She managed to recover (had some fluid around lungs+heart/irregular heart beats but was reassured that this is very common after huge surgeries).
