Aortic dissection

I had an A-type Aortic dissection in 2017 - emergency open heart surgery followed, with a replacement tissue aortic valve as well. I was told the valve would need replacing in 10 to 15 years. I'm 7 years in now, and my question is how will I know when the valve needs replacing?

I have been on Epleronone (mainly for BP) for about 4 years, after a challenging aortic dissection repair. I recently had an ablation for atrial flutter and whilst waiting was put on Diltiazem to slow my rate.

Swift, great workup, no coronary disease, no pulmonary embolism, no Aortic dissection. Pericardial effusion, CRP of 22, turns out I have Pericarditis. Not fun. No vigorous exercise for 3 months/ Colchicine, Naproxyn. Interacts with Ibrutanib, so have stopped it.

So, shortening a long story, AFib from age 40, successful ablation (PVI + flutter + mitral line) at age 48, 15 good years then an aortic dissection at age 63, the long OHS surgery for which put me back in Fib. Sinus for 5-1/2 years on Amiodarone but it was slowly weakening me, plus bad ectos.

6 weeks ago I was unexpectedly diagnosed with an aortic dissection and had key hole surgery to put in a stent. I have had no aftercare whatsoever as I was discharged from ICU and not the Cardio ward. As such I have fallen between the gaps. I have no idea about what I can and can't do.

My mum passed away from aortic dissection a short while ago and as a result I have been referred for genetic tests. It appears I now also have mild dilation of the thoracic aorta. 

The nanoMRI lite up suspicious pelvic lymph nodes so had salvage extended pelvic lymph node dissection surgery. Cancer confirmed at the para-aortic nodes. Today, six years hence, holding very low stable usPSA, 0.03X range, no ADT, no chemo.

I have been reacting to subcutaneous SI and looking at what is in Panpharma B12 there is acetic acid sodium chloride sodium acetate. This is hydro. I have bought a lot of these and worry first if I can’t use them and secondly if all have this in them. Any advice please?

thanks to those who replied to my question the other day about my gp wanting to reduce my meds (I have no thyroid following removal along with neck dissection due to papillary thyroid cancer). I that issue is resolved for now but I realised I am poorly informed about thyroid function tests and interactions

had full thyroidectomy and neck dissection in May 2022 which removed 24 lymph nodes and 2 parathyroid glands as well. All good, apparently now cancer free. Was not able to have RAI as had apparently had thyroiditis (picked up when thyroid examined post op). Was on 100 mg levothyroxine and felt

13 weeks ago to fix an aortic dissection. I, stupidly, fell over on some black ice last Saturday and since then my chest in various places has been really stiff almost sore.

On the 10th-11th September I had a sternumectomy (as used in bypass surgery) for an aortic dissection repair and had my aortic valve replaced. I'm really on the way back now and feel fantastic and am back to 50 min, 5.5km walks and even gentle running.

The third change is a strong recommendation that first-degree relatives of anyone with an aneurysm of the aortic root or ascending aorta, or with an aortic dissection, should be screened with aortic imaging.
