Dental treatment and local anaesthetic
Hi guys--I'm going to have a root canal filling next week. I've read that people with PAF should have a local anaesthetic which doesn't contain any type of adrenalin as this can bring on A Fib. Anyone have experience with this?? My GP couldn't give me an answer and told me just to discuss it with

What is an "expanded access" protocol?
Most human use of investigational new drugs takes place in controlled clinical trials conducted to assess safety and efficacy of new drugs. Data from the trials can serve as the basis for the drug marketing application. Sometimes, patients do not qualify for these carefully-controlled trials because

Oxygen Please
With IPF (or the like) You get loads of thinking time. Some absolutely off the wall thoughts. I was watching TV and found myself thinking - If you watch ‘Lord of the Rings’ backwards. It’s just a story about a bloke who gets a ring from a volcano & walks home. Which is similar to watching your wedding

Ibandronic Acid
My doctor is very keen for me to take monthly Ibandronic Acid tablets of 150mg. My dentist, however is less keen as she said there can be some problems caused by the drug when having dental treatment. I think she referred to teeth that needed to be extracted. I've been on Pred. for 4 years and am currently

Jawbone Death
Bisphosphonates BEWARE If entering into any treatment that includes a bisphosphonate such as Zometa - added as an IV during chemo treatment. Others are taken as tabs, ensure you have any required dental treatment first. It says so on the packet! My case? 10 cycles chemo. Great results with that plus

A newbie with worries about dental treatment!
Hi all - my name is Liz and I am quite new to this forum and also to AF so up to now I have been lurking in the background hoovering up all the advice and information. Today I managed to floss half a tooth out, leaving just the other half with its filling - good news is that this tooth has a root canal

Cause of GCA chicken pox and shingles virus??
"If the association in this landmark study can be replicated in other studies, clinical trials should focus on treating people with giant cell arteritis with a combination of the current steroid drugs used for the condition, plus
antiviral
treatment
for the virus," said Peter Kennedy, CBE, MD, PhD, DSc

Bisphosphonate research
Just heard on BBC news that new research justifies some scepticism on the efficacy of bisphosphonates in combating bone decay. Also casts some doubt on the reliability of dexascans for accurate monitoring. Research (from Harwell) was largely focused on osteoporotic patients but should be of interest

I am sure I have read on here,, if you are having any dental treatment, ask for a different injunction, which is safer for people with A.F. Can anyone enlighten me please.

Dental treatment with PAF and on Rivaroxaban?
Hi everyone, I added my new medical details (PAF & Rivarixaban) to my dental records and now my dental surgery has said I can't have my regular hygienist appt and dental check up until they have written confirmation that my condition and meds don't require any special precautions. (For instance, they

Dental work while on Leflunomide
I am taking currently 8mg Predisone and 10mg Leflunomide Arava and feel very well with it. Now I need to extract the last upper tooth because I have an inflammation under the crown. After 6 months my dentist plans a sinus lift, bone augmentation before he will places an implant. Has anybody done that
