Stroke risk overstated for healthy people with AFib?
It would be nice to believe that I don't need
anticoagulants
, probably why I bring this up. See: https://database.afibbers.org/ for links to their summaries of scientific studies.

Itching from anticoagulant
Since I started taking an anticoagulant (Xarelto) 3 weeks ago, after my first ablation, I’m constantly itching. It’s rather difficult to live with. Has anyone else experienced this? I read online that itching is a possible but quite rare side effect and that antihistamines help some people. But antihistamines

Another Thank You.
On New Years Eve I wrote a post about pains I had in my calf. Several people advised me to get it checked out, in case of blood clots. I thought it couldn't be that, and the doctor I saw at the private hospital here also thought it wasn't blood clots, because he couldn't see any other symptoms, but

Still looking for a diagnosis.
I've been on Metoprolol(50mg) for about 4 years. Also, Losartan 100 (mg), and atorvastatin (15mg). My diagnosis is either AFIB or Atrial clutter. Additionally, I take 15mg of Xarelto daily (blood thinner). My blood pressure is under control. My Doc wants me to consider ablation after I have a

Mechanical Heart Valve, warfarin and Pregnancy
Hi all, First post here! I’ve recently found out I’m pregnant - Great news! However I have a mechanical tricuspid heart valve and on life long anticoagulant warfarin, and have been advised of the major risks going forward with the pregnancy - Not so great news! I just wanted to reach out to see if

Stroke Prevention Day
The Stroke Association are highlighting the link between AF and the possibility of a stroke. I can echo that, as I was cardio fit with none of the other risks from weight, smoking, drinking, but I had AF and I was not prescribed an anticoagulant. On 6 July 2016 I had a stroke. The following words

Mom in icu with sepsis

So Confussed
Hi I'm a complete newbie. After over 2 years of palpitations and only an ECG detecting an irregular heartbeat during the height of covid, having never seen a GP, or having a blood test or being placed on blood thinners, then being told that 1.25 Bisoprolol was all I needed during a phone appointment

Should I take aspirin 300 mgs at home if I think I may be having a stroke despite being on an anticoagulant for atrial fibrillation?
The chances of getting an NHS CT head scan quickly enough to decide whether it’s safe to give clot busting drugs aren’t so good at the moment. I think a cerebral embolus may still be more likely than a cerebral haemorrhage, so aspirin seems logical. Maybe I’ll ask my GP ….. I should say I’m not having
