advice needed please re iron and thyroxine

hi there, I’d really appreciate some advice. I’ve been on Thyroxine for a number of years and have been fine, I’ve just been told that I have Anaemia and have started on Ferrous Fumarate tabs 210 mg. I’ve started to feel tearful and anxious this last week and wonder if the iron is affecting my thyroid?

Are you taking the ferrous fumarate within four hours of your levothyroxine? If so, they can definitely interact and reduce absorption of the levothyroxine.

However, iron-deficiency anaemia can itself result in things like reduced conversion of T4 into T3.

Make sure you take the Ferris Fumerate at least 4hrs away from when you take the levothyroxine. They have contra indications between them. Your pharmacist should have mentioned this to you or your Dr. You may be feeling like you are as the levo is not working as it did prior to taking the Ferris Fumerate.

I take my ferris fumerate with my evening meal.
