Six monthly review - Success(?)
This involved a mini-maze ablation in April 2017, followed by the addition of
Amiodarone
and Lansoprazole to my basket of daily drugs until July 2017 and then a catheter ablation in October 2017. I then came off the Bisoprolol and Rivaroxaban in November 2017.

Use of Amiodarone
I was on the EP list and my Bisoprolol was increased but stayed in AF, had the cardioversion and was advised to start on
Amiodarone
rather than go straight for an ablation.

Kardia - does it detect Atrial Flutter
Five weeks post ablation I talked to my EP s nurse - told her RHR was still high , BP ok and re- affirmed my apprehension about continuing on
Amiodarone
- Dr called back and said I should get an EKG- sure enough I am in atrial flutter so now scheduled for fourth cardio version since ablation 😩.

To ablate or not!
I was put on
amiodarone
which was reduced to nothing after a couple of months. During November to February I had an episode of AF each month, longest was 10 days, shortest 2 days. During each episode I took
amiodarone
and then stopped when I went back into NSR.

Medications that can affect thyroid function
Those are: lithium,
amiodarone
, fluoride, HRT/estrogen, Proton Pump Inhibitors, Interferon, Accutane, Iodine (excess), Botox. I have previously heard that beta-blockers also disrupt thyroid, but that was not mentioned. https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/9-medications-toxic-thyroid/

My husband has heart failure at 49 and was otherwise fit and healthy ! So worried about the future with severe LVSD
Amiodarone
was given which brought down the heart rate however following an echo discovered he had a very enlarged heart and severe LVSD as a consequence . He had an mri last week and his due date for review is the 30th April with his cardiologist. He was told that he has 23% output.

Scaremongering Amiodarone
I wish to object to the constant language being used regarding the use of
Amiodarone
and suggest it is not helpful, especially for those who take it! I hate taÄ·ing drugs but i put my trust in the hands of the professionals and so far it's working!

Too late for ablation?
Nowadays
Amiodarone
and Pradaxa. I am 64 and slowly my AF is getting worse. Two remarkable EP have different opinions: one of them understand that it’s too late to proceed with an Ablation due the the years passed since the AF appeared.

Positive thoughts about having an AV node ablation.
My options were to live with it on meds including
Amiodarone
, or have an AV node ablation, which, after a lot of consideration, research and questions I went for. I'd already had a pacemaker put in last year, so the procedure was simple.

Amiodarone & Smelling
Not a pleasant link if true, but this is the 2nd time I've been on IV
Amiodarone
inside 12 months and as well as the increased urination whilst being in fast AF I've also noticed my pee smelling as well as my general body odour increasing (sorry) despite washing and changing clothes.

Dronedarone/Multaq
Previously I’ve taken
Amiodarone
and it has put me back in sinus rhythm. I’m reluctant to take this toxic drug so my EP has prescribed Dronedarone. Also taking bisoprolol 5mg and Rivaroxaban. I feel so tired, nauseous, spaced out.

Thyroid meds causing body itching - help!
Thanks to
amiodarone
, my thyroid is all messed up. They put me on 100 mcg of levothyroxine and after almost two weeks, my entire body is covered with hives and the itching is absolute torture! I'm scratching myself raw! Has anyone else had this response?
