Amiodarone long term
He then prescribed me the dreaded
Amiodarone
and relisted me for another DCCV. I am now in sinus rhythm again and feeling a lot better. I have a follow up tomorrow and want to know the best questions to ask about

Amiodarone and nervous system
Went to my neurologist last week and he tested feet nerves are very damaged had a few falls, he suggested coming off
amiodarone
but by EP fights me about coming off. I don’t want to go back into AFIB after 2 conversions but the horrible effects of this drug have me turning into a recluse.

Meds after ablation
I was on digoxin, eliquis and
amiodarone
for 1 month prior to my ablation. After the procedure I was taken off those 3 and left on metroprolol, is it a common thing to stop meds right after an ablation, I have been in a normal rhythm with a few pvcs/pacs and some palpitations!!

Post ablation afib blues
Now they want to send him home (he went back into afib today after being out of it since Saturday) and have him try something else (like
Amiodarone
but without the iron??). I am starting to worry about all the drugs/ chemicals in his system.

How many medications do you take (heart related only)?
Currently I take Levothyroxine (because
Amiodarone
ruined my thyroid), Bisoprolol, Dogoxin and Rivaroxaban. I have a long list of objections to taking any more medication, starting with the way they have attempted to monitor my BP, through the effects of a diuretic (I already pass water a lot).

Six monthly review - Success(?)
This involved a mini-maze ablation in April 2017, followed by the addition of
Amiodarone
and Lansoprazole to my basket of daily drugs until July 2017 and then a catheter ablation in October 2017. I then came off the Bisoprolol and Rivaroxaban in November 2017.

Use of Amiodarone
I was on the EP list and my Bisoprolol was increased but stayed in AF, had the cardioversion and was advised to start on
Amiodarone
rather than go straight for an ablation.

Kardia - does it detect Atrial Flutter
Five weeks post ablation I talked to my EP s nurse - told her RHR was still high , BP ok and re- affirmed my apprehension about continuing on
Amiodarone
- Dr called back and said I should get an EKG- sure enough I am in atrial flutter so now scheduled for fourth cardio version since ablation 😩.

To ablate or not!
I was put on
amiodarone
which was reduced to nothing after a couple of months. During November to February I had an episode of AF each month, longest was 10 days, shortest 2 days. During each episode I took
amiodarone
and then stopped when I went back into NSR.

Medications that can affect thyroid function
Those are: lithium,
amiodarone
, fluoride, HRT/estrogen, Proton Pump Inhibitors, Interferon, Accutane, Iodine (excess), Botox. I have previously heard that beta-blockers also disrupt thyroid, but that was not mentioned. https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/9-medications-toxic-thyroid/

My husband has heart failure at 49 and was otherwise fit and healthy ! So worried about the future with severe LVSD
Amiodarone
was given which brought down the heart rate however following an echo discovered he had a very enlarged heart and severe LVSD as a consequence . He had an mri last week and his due date for review is the 30th April with his cardiologist. He was told that he has 23% output.

Scaremongering Amiodarone
I wish to object to the constant language being used regarding the use of
Amiodarone
and suggest it is not helpful, especially for those who take it! I hate taķing drugs but i put my trust in the hands of the professionals and so far it's working!
