I was on digoxin, eliquis and amiodarone for 1 month prior to my ablation. After the procedure I was taken off those 3 and left on metroprolol, is it a common thing to stop meds right after an ablation, I have been in a normal rhythm with a few pvcs/pacs and some palpitations!!

Meds after ablation
Because we are not medically trained, it's not possible for us to comment on prescribed medication, but I appreciate that you are only seeking general opinions. Everyone's circumstances are different and EP's tend to know what they are doing to ensure all their hard work does not fail. Dealing with Eliquis first, if your CHADs score is 0 then, arguably, there is no reason for you to continue to take it. If you are uncomfortable about this then speak to the Arrythmia Nurse or the ward where the ablation was carried out. Amiodarone is a very potent rhythm drug and is often used either side of an ablation or a cardioversion to help maintain sinus rhythm, but if your EP is confident that the ablation has been successful, most people would be very happy to be told to stop taking it. Metroprolol, being a beta-blocker, will help keep your heart rate low as this can increase significantly after an ablation and it will also help reduce blood pressure so it is not surprising for it to be prescribed. Digoxin tends not to be prescribed for "active" patients but it would have helped to reduce your heart rate prior to the ablation.
Hopefully this has helped, but please follow your EP's instructions they are the experts and if you trusted him enough to poke around your heart for a couple of hours or more then be confident that he knows what is best for you in terms of ongoing medication......the important thing now is to do nothing for the first week and not much more for the second.....best wishes
everyone seems to be different but amiodarone is a last resort drug so I am guessing but they might want to stop that as soon as you are stable. Digoxin is used when people are very inactive and now you've had your ablation you might be more active. Regarding Apixaban you might want to question this with your doctor unless you are a young person and you have low Chads Vasc score. Do hope all goes well for you- let us know how it goes
