cramps and other side effects of spironolactone
I recently raised the issue I had been suffering over the last few months - excruciatingly painful full leg cramps, and sometimes accompanied by stomach and arm cramps. I spoke with my GP about this, had a blood test which showed normal levels of everything.....and no reason given apart from that this

Curious
My GP sent me for an ECG 7 years ago. He got the result, showing that I had 3 mildly leaking heart valves and 2 dilated chambers, one mild and one severe. He told me about the third leaking valve, as I already knew about two but did not mention the dilated chambers. Five years later, when I had pain

Anyone take CellCept for CKD Stage 4 and autoimmune disease?
Hi, I saw the nephrologist for the first time yesterday. He told me I have Stage 4 as my diagnosis. My GFR was 29 a couple months ago but it was 35 just 5 months ago. The Dr. said at this point it drops fast and can't be stopped from progressing downward. Not encouraging news but he was very nice

Keeping AF at bay
In my upper 70's have had Mitral valve repair and 2 cardioversions plus pacemaker;on maximum doses of sotalol, amias, furosemide; in general holding Afib at bay but occasional relapses with pulse rate in 120's. Episodes occur about once a month without any apparent associated reasons. Episodes last about

Return of the Duck - Revenge of the Beak
Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears ............ not literally as that could get rather messy. I'm sure that you have all missed me, like a verruca. Apologies for my absence but its been an eventful few weeks, to say the least. On my last post a few weeks ago, I mentioned that I was a bit

High blood pressure after ablation
Hello everyone Now 5 weeks since ablation and just had a really good couple of weeks in NSR with lovely steady heartbeat and rate in low sixties. Fed up with Hypertension
I have lived with what's known as essential Hypertension for 29 years. I have had lots of investigations medically but to no avail, I appear to just have it genetically. What's always worried me is that despite being on a raft of medication my blood pressure only goes down an hr after I've taken said

Bumetanide in combination with Furosemide?
My husband was on Furosemide with Spironlactone but swelling in legs not improving, on a phone call the Cardiologist changed the prescription to Bumetanide. That didn’t improve it, GP then reduced the Bumetanide and we thought he said to add Spironlactone back in, but no prescription came so we checked

Swollen legs and ankles
My legs and ankles have been swollen for a few months now and are getting worse. The skin is very red and shiny . They are more swollen during the day but more painful at night. I know this hot weather doesn’t help but I am getting so fed up. I have mentioned this to my GP and he has increased my Furosemide

COPD, Oedema & Heart
Hoping someone with similar problem can help please. For the last 2months I've developed Oedema, I had ECG on Thursday to see if it were heart related to be told by Dr everything looked normal. I'm wondering if it could be due to me taking Mirtazapine for the same length of time. My left leg is swollen

How do I deal with swollen legs and water retention?
WATER RETENTION IN MY LEGS I have been prescribed a medication called furosemide. I notice that one of the side effects listed is 'loss of hearing'. I have already lost most of the hearing in my left ear and dare not risk losing right ear hearing. Can anyone give me any info on this? Is there another

Today 1 year since my surgery!
Hello hearties, I haven't posted for a while but feel that today it is appropriate for me to scribble few words... Today it is exactly one year since I waited on a bed in a cardio ward of an excellent Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, full of dread and anticipation to be trollied off to the operating

Ramipril and Furosemide and RLS
I was just wondering if anyone else is prescribed these medications? I was retaining a lot of water last year and my blood pressure was through the roof at times and now I take Furosemide 40mg for the water retention and Ramipril 2.5 caps for my blood pressure. I don’t know how long I’ll be on this

Reducing heart rate
Just diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation and waiting for angiogram to discuss way forward. Worried about everything particularly low nighttime pulse rate. I am on two types of diuretics furosemide and spirinolactone. Anyone got experience of this?

Blood test high BNP results?
I’ve had a right carry on with trying to get more frusemide for my swollen feet and ankles. I emailed my arrhythmia nurse who said take extra 40mg (I’m on 80mg) but first you need blood test check everything ok and you need to go to GP any problems they can refer you to us. (I’ve never been discharged
