My husband was on Furosemide with Spironlactone but swelling in legs not improving, on a phone call the Cardiologist changed the prescription to Bumetanide. That didn’t improve it, GP then reduced the Bumetanide and we thought he said to add Spironlactone back in, but no prescription came so we checked with the surgery and the notes say it was Furosemide that was prescribed, but no prescription for it. Waiting for a call from GP. Question is: can Bumetanide and Furosemide be taken in combination as they’re the same type of diuretic?

Hi like you say because they are both loop diuretics you wouldn’t usually be on both. Sometimes frusemide will be stopped and switched to bumetanide. Check with GP and pharmacist.
