Good news for those suffering from heart failure, you CAN recover, I DID, thanks God.
First sorry for long post but it could be really helpful to those with heart failure. Nov 2019 ejection fraction at 15% , Mitral valve regurgitations (means not even pumping the 15% out correctly!), Got steadily worse, movement severely restricted, 80-year-old man fitter than me..and i was very fit

Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction - heart not filling adequately due to stiffness (caused by strain due to congenital defect)
Hi everyone, I had a bicuspid aortic valve that was diagnosed and replaced 2 years ago at age 44 when I got endocarditis. The valve replacement was supposed to be the solution to all my problems (which had been misdiagnosed until then as mental health issues). I was put on furosemide and bisporolol

Loss of apetite - Low EV (Ejection Fraction)
Since I have been diagnosed with an EV of 25% four months back the lower abdomen area feels so delicate. There is little apetite. Furosemide sometimes does assist even though I have no visible swelling in the legs or abdomen. I have tried beta blockers but cannot tolerate them. Heart rate has been 56

Recently diagnosed with heart failure - swollen feet - any tips?
Recently diagnosed with heart failure and looking to speak to others with the condition. Doctor prescribed Furosemide for water in legs and feet. Been on it now 2 months nearly. How long have I got, and can I change it?
So, I was originally diagnosed with Hep C back in 2010 following stabbing myself with a dirty needle when I worked for the NHS, and was later diagnosed with cirrhosis a few years later. Enetually put on the list for transplant, I was taken off the transplant list in July 2019, due to an MRI finding

Does heart failure make you hypersensitive to smell
Dear Community, I was diagnosed with dilated left ventricle with severely impaired systolic function and EF of 25%. I used to be active with daily walks in the park but now suffer from exertional breathlessness on simple tasks like walking up a flight of stairs. Furosemide, Carvedilol, Candersartan were

Advice please...
My 87 year old dad has been in AandE 3 times over the last week with oedema that comes on at night with delerium linked to heart failure. But seems to be no improvement when he comes out of Aand E They've taken him off furosemide and put in a urinary catheter. His bloods and urine come back as unremarkable

Chronic Cryptogenic Cirrhosis at age 27
Hi All, I've been lurking since getting my diagnosis of cirrhosis in July last year and I wanted to share my story. Failed too reduce my frusemide
My HF nurse advised me to reduce my fruesmide from 40mg BD to 40mg OD, it was only 24 hrs before I got breathlessness and then air hunger. So I lncreased it back to twice a day. What experience have you all had in reducing medications? They are doing it so they can increase my Ramipril, but my BP is

Pace and Ablate for Persistent A fib - Your Experiences?
Hi Whilst in hospital over Christmas, it was decided upon a pace and ablate for my a fib which is now persistent and has given me cardiac decompensation. However, there was a U turn and the consultants decided to try me on further drugs and give them a bit of time first. I was discharged on 10 mg bisoprolol

Q’s after AVR through OHS 6 days ago
Ok so second day home after AVR via OHS on Monday. I have a couple of questions. I’m still pretty knackered all the time and keep falling asleep but guess that is just the body’s way of telling you to take it easy. I feel like I have stitch a lot of the time. Worse when sitting down. Has anyone

Finally home-Happy New Year to you all
Finally got out late evening yesterday and very relieved to be home. Plenty of rest today although my blood pressure keeps dropping low. I hate these drugs but am hoping my body adapts. I have normal blood pressure without drugs so they were worried in controlling my rate, it may drop too low. Currently

Weight loss and heart failure
Hi everyone, have a question about weight loss. I was diagnoses with heart failure few years ago. I never had trouble losing weight if I exercised and my BMI was never too high. However, since February this year I started to work out regulary ( cycling 5-10 km a day and lifting weights few times a week

A rash when taking Furosemide
Hi has anyone had a reaction to Furosemide? I have a itchy rash with hives all over my body since I’ve started to take them. It’s the only new medication I’ve had & no change in food, soap powder etc.

Oh ok, I admit it - not doing all that well the now
So please excuse in advance what will look like a lack of response here, and very short posts elsewhere on the forum. Short although not sweet - I'm fighting off another acute flare of my recurrent pericarditis and am being shoehorned in for an echo tomorrow to check for increased pericardial effusion

NTproBNP blood test
I had the above blood test on 27th October. Was finally told the results today via snail mail. BNP is showing as 1278. I'm assuming this confirms heart failure? Cardiac nurse is asking GP to prescribe me Furosemide 40mg for three days then 20mg daily after. I have constant afib following a massive pulmonary
