Pericarditis
Hi, I'm 66 and was diagnosed with Pericarditis after being blue lighted to hospital with a suspected heart attack last April 6 weeks after my 1st (and last!) Pfizer jab. I think the jab caused it as I'd never had any heart problems at all my whole life.
The usual treatment is ibuprofen for 2 weeks to reduce inflammation of the pericardium. If ibuprofen not suitable, or it still persists, colchicine is prescribed as an anti-inflammatory. I couldn't have ibuprofen for kidney damage reasons so I had colchicine for 2 weeks. It didn't go away so was told to take it for a further 3 months. I'm more or less ok now with no pain just occasional uncomfortable sensations.
Thankyou Sunnie2day for your help and information.. mine is a long story diagnosed with a fib 2018 this year breathless tired struggling with pain sent for heart scan enlarged heart and weakness on right side but discharged on3 new meds propranolol frusemide and apixaban and soon ramipril omg what a cocktail !!! Your input is very welcome as my cardiologist wasn’t very informative. Nice too meet a fellow crafter It’s my relaxing hobby !!!! Take care yourself
Sunnie2day what a brilliant, well informed post 👏🏻👏🏻
I am 7/8 weeks on from being diagnosed with post viral pericarditis and can relate to a lot of what you say, hopefully I am on the mend as I am starting to slowly increase exercise and not suffering so much after the last couple of sessions.
I honestly do not know how you have coped with it for so long.
Coping beats the alternative🤣
Pericarditis can take a very long time to resolve and then the recovery period can be as long or even longer. I wish I could say something more positive for you but I can't.
Colchicine can take up to a week to show any results so keep to the medication unless you start showing signs of Colchicine intolerance (read the packet leaflet line-for-line).
Follow the above tips I posted for a few days and see it any of those help make you a little more comfortable. And be sure to update after you've had the MRI and got the results - you're on the right path (MRI with cardiologist follow up) so you should be hearing something more helpful soon.
Thank you sunny , your a gem 💎
