Furosemide not working
Hi I have nephrotic syndrome which includes what feels to me to be a bad case of œdema. My weight has gone up by about 3 stone in the last two months, which means there's more than 15 litres of excess water inside me, which is uncomfortable and rather painful, especially in my legs. Could it be the COPD, or my Heart
Hi Folks, I am a 73 yr old male. I have had copd for about 3 years, but the past 2/3 months its been really bad, and just standing up or body movements, can make me breathless. I know exactly the feeling in my respiratory tract and scenario you describe. I had to see a Locum GP and he changed my life. He prescribed Furosemide, sold under the brand name Lasix. My Cardiologist said it's not necessarily because I have heart failure. I think the respiratory tract is in a constant

ivabradine
Does anyone take ivabradine? I am currently on Losartan, Spironolactone, Furosemide and Rivaroxaban. I was on Digoxin which I tolerated well as I can't take bisoprolol. I have researched it and wonder if anyone has suffered the side affects. Just interested as sometimes I do wonder 'why' this or that

Hi, Anyone out there on this. I started taking it but it made me wee so much I stopped - I don't really know whether i need it or not as not sure I need a diuretic but thought I would ask here as it is going to take me a month to get back to see my GP for a routine appointment.

Hi, I am an old time poster
Hi, I was a member of the dilated cardiomyopathy forum at BHF. I signed up there 10 years ago when my mother was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy and left bundle branch block. There used to be a thread called "how long?". I wanted to post this there, but here I am. So, my 65 year old mother suddenly

Advice please
Hi. I have recently been told that I have subclinical Hypothyroidism with high antibodies. Plus :- B12 196 (197-771) Folate 2.1 (2.0-16.7) Ferritin 60.9 (13-150) The Endocrinologist suggested with my vegetarian diet that I ask my GP for a vitamin B12 injection with these results but the GP doesn't want

Oedema ignorance in NHS
The Publicly funded NHS has a problem with this potentially serious condition! My experience has shown me that it cannot provide the necessary care to treat it successfully in every case such as in mine and of coarse in any chronic fairly untreatable condition which of course everyone who is not in

A Newbie with LVF
Hi guys :) I am a complete newbie on here and I've only in the last 2 months been diagnosed with LVF and because of my "white coat" aversion to anything medical we are still awaiting my heart rate to reduce enough for them to be able to take consistent enough images from an echocardiogram. I am now

Blacked out without warning.
I blacked out without warning Sunday evening after going to the toilet, so because I am on Warfarin my husband called an ambulance to be on the safe side. I do not know how long I was "out" on the floor but I came round to see a paramedic looking down on me and asking all those questions you dont know

Monday 12th June saw me with a trip to London to see my ever lovely Hepatologist, he always seems to be shadowed by young Italian/Spanish ladies doing student exchanges....anyway, MRI and appointment - 4 new lesions/tumours (22 now) and LFT's all show my liver is doing an ok job! So all is good really

Metal v Prosthetic valve replacement
Hello, This is my first post here. I've done a search of this and read around, and here's my question. I'm looking to gauge the views of others in a similar situation. I'm 28. I was born with Fallots, full correction at 11 months old, nothing since then till last few years. Put on Bisoprolol, spironolactone
