ivabradine

Does anyone take ivabradine? I am currently on Losartan, Spironolactone, Furosemide and Rivaroxaban. I was on Digoxin which I tolerated well as I can't take bisoprolol.

I have researched it and wonder if anyone has suffered the side affects. Just interested as sometimes I do wonder 'why' this or that particular drug.

It would seem you are out of luck on this one as nobody has responded. I looked it up and apparently it acts by reducing the heart rate via specific inhibition of the funny channel. !!!

I share Losartan and Rivaroxaban with you but I also take Atenolol.

I take ivabradine (Procoralon) 5 mg twice a day. I don't think I have any side effects from it. However, I have severe lung problems and put any side effects I have down to the lung medication. Have you a specific side effect?

Hi Patches

I have not started taking it yet. The HF nurse wanted me to start taking it after the very first appointment with her. When asked what it was for and why did she want me to take it the answer given was because my resting heart rate on that day at that particular time was 92.

I decided to research it - as I have with all prescribed medication because I do seem to suffer some of the side affects given - and have, since, asked the cardiologist if I should be taking it. Am awaiting reply.

Are you taking it for your heart or lungs or both?

Hi Ktomoph

I am taking it for my heart. I had a very high heart rate, around 90/100 going up higher when I did the slightest thing. I am on it since beginning of June. My rate has gone down, resting rate around 58/60 and it never goes over 90. I have a Fitbit which tells the heart rate. The Cardiologist said they were very accurate.

I did not know it was prescribed for lung issues.

Hi Patches - would like to have a Fitbit! but too out of price range so have a cheap blood pressure monitor. It works enough to give me an idea as to why I am feeling 'like this' and comfort to know I needn't panic.

My Ep/Cardiologist has advised that I would benefit from a biventricular defibrillator implant - proper discussion and question time tomorrow so have spent the day reading up on all types available and any drawbacks.

And sorry, not sure if Ivabradine can be used for lung issues - just wondered because you said you had severe lung problems. Is that as well as or combined/caused by heart problem or vice versa?

I suppose we must not complain as the treatments available have advanced so much now - grateful for each day!

Good luck with treatments and health.

Found out by chance discussion today that my continued low blood pressure could be caused by the increase in dosage of Losartan. And low blood pressure can cause pre syncope, which has been happening even at night whilst laid in bed. So look forward to tomorrows discussion!
