Asthma & Costochondritis
Yes I do almost constantly but severity of pain fluctuates. I apply heat and often lie on a hot water bottle for left lung area and a small one for sternum pain. Ibuprofen 10% gel on affected area and codeine or paracetamol. It's an awful painful condition which can mimic a heart attack I do hope you have been thoroughly checked out. I hope you find this helpful.
Yes I think I have both. I actually thought this was my post since so posted almost the same question. I was wondering if this could cause low peak flow because my doctors never could figure out what I have abnormal lung function which they say could either be obesity which they assure me I’m not or scoliosis which mine is rare. I don’t have treatment but I was starting to go to physical therapy and they lasered my chest and it helped.
Yes my daughter has had this twice, both after hospital admission for asthma attacks. They said it’s a strain on the muscle from so much coughing. Very painful and takes about a month to settle. My daughter was prescribed codine Which helped.
Yes, I have costochondritis, very painful! Caused by strains from stretching or pulling too much in my case and I'm learning to avoid these. Don't think it's been exacerbated by asthma, though given the inflammation at root cause in both conditions, I wonder what the co-relationship is?
Thanks for your reply! I actually think mine has been caused by exercise...lifting too heavy!
I am now on Amitriptyline so hoping that might settle it a bit!!☹️
