Just looking for a bit of advice. Around the time I got my new dog I started to experience some chest symptoms such as dry cough and itchy feeling in lungs that comes and goes. I’m anxious I’m allergic to him. I have no other symptoms around him except if he scratches me I get small non itchy hives.
Did a lung function test and doctor said no asthma. But is it possible i could have allergic asthma? No shortness of breath or trouble breathing.

It does sound like your allergic to your dog. The easiest way to find out is to start taking antihistamines and frequantly brush your dog outside so there is less dander to irritate you. I hope you find an answer.
I am allergic to dogs and cats. I get a cough, itchy eyes, breathing difficulties.
I have 3 dogs myself, thankfully it the short haired dogs I’m mostly allergic to and I have non-moulting Dogs, I still get itchy eyes when brushing them but my doctor thinks I’ve built up a resistance to them.
Try an antihistamine and see if it reduces your symptoms. Maybe ask your doctor for an allergy test.
Try antihistamines and rub him down with a baby wipe before and after brushing I find this helps. I also opens windows during day close them at 4 for pollen. 🐶
I had allergy tests and dog was one of them....showed negative,,,.( i knew i wasnt allergic to dogs...and even if i was, it wd have made no difference, lol, I love my dogs and thats the end of it. ) ...tiny pricks all down the arm. Cat was another, negative. ( that also wd have made no difference to me if it had returned positive, )
Grass was the culprit......these tests might be useful for you?? I think there were 11 tested for ....but grass was the culprit.....I think that is quite common.....it's ac tually the seeds i think....
Maybe flixanase ( fluticasone) nose inhaler.... one inhalation every one or two days would be good for you. One tends to find that if the nasal passages are clear that helps the mild lung stuffiness as well. No doctor would dispute this. Well, I certainly hope not.....
Give it a go. No harm done, and likely to benefit. Good luck!
I suffer anaphylaxis to many things but when I moved in with my partner and his Labrador I suffered terrible breathing problems. I’d be up most nights with a dry cough. In the end I went to see the nurse and she said I have asthma and sent me to an allergy clinic , by then we got a long haired kitten and I was getting worse. Allergies showed so many triggers and amongst the worst were moulting animals. They did try to persuade me to Re home the pets but I can’t. 10 years on we have now have a non moulting little dog who I’m fine with and 2 long haired cats who I have to be really careful round. My asthma is still bad.
You definitely have an allergy if some kind
At the moment I’m suffering bad with the Raoe Seed fields everywhere
