Should i get a job when i live with people with asthma?
It depends what level of asthma they have as to whether they are shielding currently. Some asthmatics themselves have been working all through the crisis just following stricter social distancing. As of the 6th even shielders don’t need to distance within their own homes any more either (current rules say social distance from people in the house who leave it).
I know a few shielders who’s partners/family are working throughout and they have been fine. As of 1st August the shielders in England/NI (and maybe Scotland as well) will be returning to work themselves.
Talk to the people you live with but you should be fine getting a job
Hope this helps
Should be fine unless they take ORAL STEROIDS which alters the immune system All best Marilyn
Should be okay. Just wash your hands when you get home and keep a good distance. It's good your thinking about others. I live with 5 others they couldn't care less about my Asthma.
You haven’t mentioned the kind of job you are looking for. Some are obviously low risk whereas others, like working in a hospital, would be very high risk.
Personally I don’t think that you should let the current situation stop you looking for a job, as people have to work. I’m asthmatic and lucky enough to work from home at the moment, but I know that my workplace will open soon and I’m happy to go back, taking precautions like face mask and hand washing.
People I live with work in a care home and schools respectively, so come into contact with others, but again, they follow sensible precautions and thankfully we haven’t had any issues with Covid.
Also remember that for many, Covid is a mild disease. My parents don’t live with me but they both contracted Covid. My mum has cancer and is going through chemo and my dad has heart disease and asthma. Both made a full recovery from Covid despite their health issues.
So yes, go get that job and best of wishes for your future.
It's lovely that you are so caring of your housemates. I tend to agree with everyone below that you shouldn't let the pandemic stand in the way of you and gainful employment considering we could be grappling with this virus for many more months and possibly well into 2021.
My husband and I shielded and I still got covid and was quite sick for a few weeks. I am a severe asthmatic with adrenal insufficiency so I take steroids every day for the latter in addition to many inhalers, a biologic etc for the former. (It's hard to avoid it entirely is my point!)
What do their GPs say? That might the best way to make a final decision you all feel comfortable with-
