I learnt something last week which is worth sharing. I had to go to a and e a while ago when on holiday. It was at a big city hospital and a couple of days after leaving hospital they asked me to return and see a respiratory nurse. I was keen as my gp practice has lost its asthma nurse, which is probably

I recently had my second very nasty asthma attack in six weeks. I could feel it coming but neither gp nor hospital team nor later 111 would ring back or talk to me as my readings deteriorated. So I had my attack at 2 in the morning on sunday, and 999 sent out paramedic with nebulisers which stopped

2 year old acute asthma
Hello, I have a daughter that is 2 years old. She has been fighting asthma symptoms for about a year and a half. She has been hospitalized six times over the past year and was on oxygen & steroids during her stay. Just recently, she was prescribed an inhaler for acute asthma. Her doctor didn't fully

5 Year old with asthma
Hello all. My son is 5 years old (6 in February) and was diagnosed with asthma 3 years ago. He was a very normal healthy baby boy. When he was age 2 he started getting sick literally every single day after he ate any type of food. For a year they gave him steroids and he gained a lot of weight. At age

Life After Colectomy - Colon Resection
Hello. Can anyone tell me realistically their experience after colectomy- colon resection surgery? I have been offered a left hemicolectomy and want to know what the true recovery is. Surgeons are minimizing the recovery and say once healed you will probably not notice anything. I have a hard time

Is my asthma nurse correct?
Hi everyone! During my last check up, my asthma nurse said that bronchiectasis came under the umbrella of COPD. I replied that it didn't and was a separate condition. She wouldn't have it, and I didn't want to waste valuable appointment time arguing. Is she right? I'd appreciate people's opinions on

Negative metacolin challenge test but bad asthma worsened by allergies
However, I am still so so sensitive to my allergies in a way I never have been but only in how much they effect my breathing- for example I grew up with dogs despite being a little
allergic
but now I can’t go home because my
asthma
dramatically worsens the second I get there.

Asthma and Covid Experiences Please!
Hi, so after feeling pretty rubbish yesterday with a sore throat, spiking temp and barking sounding cough, today I have tested positive for Covid on a lateral flow after avoiding the damn thing for 3 years! I have asthma, so am understandably worrying! I am waiting for a call back from GPs as my peak

Antihistamines for Post Covid Symptoms?
Hi, a few weeks ago I tested positive for Covid… It caused an asthma flare but my Fostair and Ventolin along with a course of Dexomethasone steroids seemed to have kept it manageable… Although the actual illness passed very quickly (temp, awful throat, horrible barking coughing fits) I have been left

Stoma refashion
I have a stoma since birth from hirshprungs that left me with a permenant colostomy. I have been told surgery for the stoma 23 years later as it had started retracting in 2014 but nobody would help. My skin has also seperated from the stoma also leaving a large wound. This will be my first surgery understanding

Stoma reversal
I have just had a liver transplant and went back for my first check up, everything is going so well so far. While I was waiting for my liver transplant I had an emergency Stoma surgery and had a bag fitted, the surgeon that gave me my first check up for my liver said in about six months or so they will
