Tyramine Diet Anyone?
i just increased my Emsam dosage from 6 mg to 9mg. the new patch came with a dietary warning. i cant eat any tyramine rich foods and need to decrease/avoid caffeine. tyramine is an amino acid by product (the amino acid it comes from is tyrosine). tyramine is usually just processed by the body and

Fatty liver
Hi, recently after an ultrasound for a lump that was a lipoma, it was discovered that I have a fatty liver, due to excessive drinking over many years. I also had a blood test and the function which should be approx 30 was 95. I have been told to stop drinking, lose weight and return in January to see

Drugs advice for Type III Hyperlipoproteinaemia.
I have recently been diagnosed with the above after genetic testing (I am 51 year old female.) I am otherwise fit, slim and healthy but have ridiculous levels of cholesterol, though the ratios are good. I am reluctantly beginning to see the ned for medication and discussions are beginning. The possibilities

Has anyone had a bad reaction to Spironolactone or experienced good results from furosemide?
I have cirrhosis due to childhood AIH, until quite recently I have managed to cope with the condition but have been told if my symptoms and acites get any worse I could be in need of a transplant. I am not responding too well to the diruetics and am feeling very anxious about the future. If anyone has

Azilect (Rasagiline)
Selegiline and rasagiline (brand name Azilect), are generally given in the early stages of PD in order to slow the progression of symptoms of PD. MAO inhibitors, however, can have serious side effects if they are taken in concert with a selected class of other medicines like cough medicines, antidepressants

Anyone have experience with Emsam?
Both my GP and Neuro referred me to a Psychiatrist since I was having trouble with SSRI's. I had my first visit today. It was good with him prescribing a patch called Emsam, a selegiline MAOI. I think it is like Azilect. Any comments or observations? Thanks

Zelapar--is any one taking it? Comparison between Zelapar and Azilect?
WHen I was diagnosed with PD, the Neuro put me on a low dose of Requip and zelapar. I noticed a change right away- like I could move, had my balance back and an overall good feeling. Six months later, because I was going through a stressful time, He added a anti depressant. I tried many of those and

prednisolone side effects
i was just wondering what side effects other people have from long term use of side effects. although i'm not actually diabetic (yet) my blood sugars have become unstable over the past 18 months ~ down as low as 2.3 and once upto 19.6, though more usual highs are at the top end of 'normal' range. the

Drug and Food interactions eg Theophyllines
Helloo, had a chat with my consultant today and bought up a problem that happens every now & again. I get tachycardia and also chest pains every now & again - no connection to just having a ventolin neb, wasn't on the s/c either! Asked about varying theo levels and he suggested it could be a food and

Steroid use and cataracts
Having recently lost my battle to stay on separate serevent and flixtotide inhalers, I've given in to my consultants advice to change to seretide and flixtotide acculahers. They do seem to be working fine although I am still on a very high dose of flixotide (1000mcs) and 15mgs prednisolone. Although

At work, how do you define 'disabled'?
I am going through the unfortunate process of redundancy & consultation (as are thousands of others!). When I looked over the consultation papers, the statistics offered are 25% of employees are declared disabled. I know who I work with: I have RA & my friend has retinitis pigmentosa and is going blind

Running for health
In Feb 2009 I went for a routine eye exam. My Optician sent me immediately to Bristol eye hospital due to an abnormality in my eyes. When I got there they checked my blood pressure and found it was high. 257/195 and this had pushed my eyes out of shape. I was immediately admitted to Bristol Royal Infirmary

Does anyone know if scleroderma can cause one to see bright flashing swirls if one blinks in darkness?
I dont know if I have scleroderma but I experience this, Have seen 2 opticians and opthamolgist at local hospital (waiting for cataract surgery there) who all said nothing to do with eyes. One optician said it might be an image from the brain I have been dabbling on Inspire (an american site for scleroderma
