New to all of this...
People have always told me that they admired me and how strong i am because I stood by my husband during his multiple illnesses and opiod
addiction
. Truthfully, and I've never said this outloud, I was afraid to leave because I didnt know how! That also did not help my daughter.

Got fired life is pointless
This is not acceptable when youโre working in the medical field, especially the
addiction
field. As an
addiction
counselor Iโm expected to keep my emotions in check and to behave appropriately to coworkers.

Could a Class A drug (Ecstasy) help with Alcohol Addiction?
There was an interesting article in the Independent Online this morning about a recent trial study that has shown that the taking of methylenedioxymethamphetamine (ecstasy) could offer support for many people who are struggling with alcohol

White lies
About my
addiction
( which right now is alcohol) I lie about it and everything, everyone surrounding it. I lie to cover my lies. I use to feel guilty... guess I still do, a little...its a coping mechanism. Tired of it. Wish I could tell the world I love to drink & get high.

My favorite blues musician/recovering addict......
If you are at all interested in
addiction
recovery and or rock n roll / blues his story will knock your socks off. In his latter days his connection to "The Divine " becomes obvious and real. OMG ๐ฒ one not to miss. Everyone have a Fabulous Day. Remember- You Are Loved.... DV

I've also gotten into self harming - it's an
addiction
like I deserve pain and it makes me who I am. If anyone has been in a similar position can you help me out?

Ocd anxiety
It has gotten progressively worse and it's becoming something That I'm worried is part of the reason I had a seizure recently..i do believe also itโs starting to cause an alcohol
addiction
. I am scared and honestly sick of this and want to know how or maybe something that could possibly help.

Keen to know if anyone else has been advised to take 2 Elvanse/Vyvanse a day.
(Iโd rather stay clear of short acting stimulants that give you a noticeable boost for fear of
addiction
).

Diazepam (Valium) ARE YOU ADDICTED or having trouble coming off them? If so then read on?
for a few years and by this time found myself taking so many Diazepam 5mg I was going through 30 tablets in 3 days and having to go back to the GP's for more, this was from 1988 to 1992.....Since this time I have been in control of my life, overcome the panic disorder and free from the involuntary

Just a cheeky little thing
My real name is Steph and I work as an
addiction
counselor. I have been in recovery myself for 9 years. Getting clean allowed me to do the hard work of modifying unhealthy thought processes and behavioral patterns. I joined this group today because...well to be honest, I became desperate.

Update on hubby
He was referred to alcohol nurses to referred him on to
addiction
charity. Unfortunately hubby was not fully engaging with them, so they have discharged him from their programme. During this time Hubby cut his consumption to from 6+ cans a day to 2 or 3 cans a day.

was enough to keep me committed for nine actually almost 10 years in recovery from multiple substance addictions.

New to antidepressants (sertraline) - take it or leave it
This though has worried me a lot as from one point of view is acts as A very strong
addiction
. And all of the possible long-term sides effects are even more worrying.

Where does motivation for life come from?
Originally I started with stimulants and opioids, to get me through a crisis but that gave me an opioid
addiction
. I then discovered some safer opioids, tramadol and methadone, they are an improvement but not ideal.
