Post Ablation Diagnosis
I have been very fortunate and had my Afib ablation in Leicester in May. I had excellent treatment with very minimal side effects from the procedure and am back doing exercise and best of all, no episodes of Afib - so all very positive even though it is very early days. My follow up appointment is in

Dehydration.
I am on Bumetanide twice daily for mild heart failure. We all know what it does but in this weather we are encouraged not to become dehydrated. I am drinking loads of fluids but should I expect more or less loo trips under these circumstances. Still no rain here.

Afib and heart failure
Does afib always lead to heart failure?I have just had a medication review with a specialist who works with our GP surgery and doctors. He claims that any afib present leads to heart failure between 1 and 20% in the early stages. This is frightening. My afib episodes are very symptomatic and come around

NSR...out of the blue!!
Last year I had 3 ablations for persistent AF, all deemed to be unsuccessful. 5 months after number 2 , I had 9 days of NSR but then went back into persistent AF with no further breakthroughs. Number 3 was arranged as a top up but after that did not result in NSR for more than a day it was decided AF

Back from EP after Cardioversion Failure
Now EP wants to try another Cardioversion in conjunction with amiodarone . I am concerned because I already have neuropathy in feet and fingers and I have read this medicine can worsen that. Anyone with experience with it?

Good News Today
I just left my EPS office with good news. I actually thought I was having problems with my new pacemaker but the office it is true. Dr Saini kept raising my ECG print out telling me how wonderful it is and my echo was the same. For all purposes, my heart on there looks the same as anyone with a normal

Effect of thyroid dysfunction on N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide levels: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Papers regarding the impact of inappropriate thyroid hormone levels keep coming out. It would be a miracle if endocrinologists showed any evidence of having read them. And incorporated the lessons into their practices. [i]

Hi all, First time posting in this forum I have posted in the main BHF a few times. I'm currently waiting for an AF Ablation and recently had my preoperative assessment for it. The nurse kindly gave me a copy of my ECG and naturally I took to googling to try understand it ofcourse getting nowhere 😂

Fed Up with everything.
I have been on haemodialysis since May. Having completed all the tests etc at the beginning of November, I was just waiting to go live in the transplant list. My previous consultant, who is now on maternity leave, said my results were good and she even said, I would probably receive a new kidney before

My First Pacemaker Followup
Today was my first real follow up with my EP since the fitting of my pacemaker and AV node ablation done on February 13 and 27th. I have not been feeling 100% although much much better than before all of this. I guess I expected more not realizing other things are in play with me and it’s not just

Peritoneal dialysis and Neck pain at night during exchanges ……any help? Asking for my mother
Reaching out to this expert community to see if anyone has any experience and advice so I can help my mother. She has been on peritoneal dialysis for about 3-4years. Her exchanges happen at night on machine (not manually). Most recently she has been dealing with pretty significant neck pain. That happens

Holter test delay
I have AF and heart failure. I am been treated by medication. I had a bad turn where my heart rate went down to 43. I contacted my cardiac nurse who halved the dose of Bisoprolol. He organised a holter monitor. That was the 7 of February still not had an appointment to be fitted. My nurse will not increase

Thanks to you all
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who replied to my previous post about my partner being diagnosed with emphysema. I spoke to a wonderful specialist nurse called Liz over the phone yesterday who reaffirmed a lot of what had been said. We spoke to his GP over the phone this morning and

Digoxin vs Pace & Ablate?
As some already know I’ve had a hard recovery since ablation on 23/11/22. HR was on the rise again slowly from then and the severe respiratory episode went on & on. Just coming to the end of what I think is maybe the 5th antibiotic course! I’ve now been on digoxin 125mcg since 28/2/22 and following
