Trouble with ordering adrenal stress test...
I was officially diagnosed with Hashimoto's 2 weeks ago and my endocrinologist has sent me for an ACTH test, the results of which have come back normal. Despite being hypothyroid/Hashi's I have great difficulty gaining weight despite eating a lot and it's been suggested I try an adrenal stress test

Not Addison's?
I've just come back from my GP and she has given me the results of the ACTH stimulation test I have had done. BUT in the GP's words they are "advisory" only: Baseline cortisol: 622 30 mins: 915 60 mins: 985 So I guess that means Addison's is excluded. And I have absolutely no idea what's going to

ACTH test done but I want these other tests done
I had my ACTH Stim Test done this morning - although I only saw the nurse this is what I've found out: - The Endo/doctor will tell me the result when it comes back. - The nurse who carried out the test explained that the doctors aren't sure why I'm poorly and want to check my adrenal function - but

GP Appointment
I had my GP appointment today as things were just really getting me down. Here's what was said: It wasn't my usual doctor unfortunately who I came to see about my new symptoms, which was a shame but expected as my usual GP is very popular and is on call sometimes but I went into great detail about each

Stopping my thyroxine - a bad idea?
I was officially diagnosed with Hashimoto’s last week but I was diagnosed hypothyroid in May 2013. I was thinking about stopping my thyroxine. The reasons for this are: * The TSH went down on its own from 4.6 to 2.7. (0.27-4.2) * The GP cannot feel for a nodule/goitre whenever I say I can feel one

Hi, new to this community and looking for advice/help with my symptoms.
I was diagnosed hypothyroid in May last year and my first appointment with the Endo was today. She confirmed I had Hashimoto's and also suspects Addison's. The reasons she suspects I have Addison’s are: * I have lost weight despite eating a lot of food. I have gone from 50kg or 8 stone to 48.6kg or

Update. Hashimoto's confirmed but Endo thinks I could have Addison's as well. Does this make any sense?
I have had my first Endo appointment today and she did a physical examination on me. Blood pressure - She noted my blood pressure was very low when lying down and the diastolic reading was higher upon standing than lying down. She also said she couldn't detect my heartbeat very well with a manual blood

ACTH test
Iv got my acth test in a couple of weeks and wanted to know if it is dangerous if you produce high cotrisol naturally on that day. My 24 hour urine test was 34 range 10-175,so whilst my results were on the low side they were still within range. My other concern us that they inject 250ml of the drug and

What a waste of time that was.....
Finally had my endo appointment this morning...not interested in my thyroid because blood tests said i am in normal range and they only refer to them. They have agreed to send me for ACTH test...i think i already know where thats going. I asked about 24hr saliva test,i was told that proves nothing and

Does anyone else have tremors yet underactive thyroid levels are fine?
Just spoke to specialist nurse and she said my thyroid levels are fine - had recent baseline blood tests done. However she could not give me any other results as these need to be discussed at doctors meeting. I also had an MRI scan for the pituitary gland, so awaiting results. I have profound primary

Hi Guys. This long bloggish piece (what’s new ? ) is to float the topic of foetal programming, share some information and encourage some feedback. Bear in my mind that I’m not medical – this is an ad-hoc summary of what I seem to have picked up. It may or may not be news to some of you, but it certainly

Endo suggests long synacthen test rather than short - to look at adrenal reserve and insufficiency. Anyone had this? What should i expect?
I wrote to endo asking for short synacthen test following advice given here. (blood test showed morning cortisol off the nhs scale) He wrote back and suggested a long synacthen test. What does this mean and is it better? It will involve a whole day off work with tests throughout the day and then
