Acthar Gel injections

Anyone ever took these injections before and if so how did you do with them? Did they help? I just got put on them after I had a video appt with my RA doctor. My sed rate is very high and he also had previously put me on imuran. So just wondering how things went for any of you that may have taken it

Feeling awful update

Still waiting for insurance approval for acthar gel injections. Never been on that before it’s supposed to help with pain and inflammation. And hopefully help get me off of steroids as I am now diabetic because of the steroids.

ACTH test tomorrow

How did everyone manage the prednisone free time? What dose were you on at the time. My consult with a endocrinologist was due to low blood sugar readings. He was concerned that my adrenals would not wake up . I and my sister always tended to low blood sugars- helped with between meal snacks. Also how

UPDATE synachten test - morning not possible

Hello everyone The clinic only opens at 1.30pm so 1.45 it is. Also no way to ask for the test draw prior to injection. Not much more I can do, just hope the test will be good enough. Thank you all for your replies :) I was under the impression that the SST test needed to be done early morning and

Why does Endo say ACTH test is not relevant wouldn't a low result indicate secondary Addisons?

I recently had a SST due to low cortisol. The endo said my results were good and discharged me without discussing them with me. I wrote to him to ask for ACTH blood test because they didnt test this when i had my SST but he has refused. See attached letter. I really don’t understand this response particularly

Stress and a Short Synathcen Test

Hi, I saw my new pituitary specialist on Friday who surprisingly offered me a Short Synathcen Test for suspected low cortisol. I had a cortisol test recently and it was normal. I have just realised that fasting for the test was not recommended, and I had had no coffee or food overnight. Before my

ACTH and adrenal glands awakening in GCA

Why is synthetic ACTH not used to trigger the adrenal glands into reawakening after a long suppression due to steroid treatment in GCA . At levels of around 4 mg when there is resistance experienced in normal functioning of the adrenals , would not synthetic ACTH stimulate the adrenals ? Does anyone

Mild Relapse

I’m taking a 5 day course of Acthar Gel injection at home advised by my Neuro and on 4th day. It’s helping reduce inflammation, but sometimes I feel like I’m dying due to weakness when I walk around. I have been lying down mostly for 7 days. It sucks!

Hydrocortisone

I have adrenal fatigue. Low low low high. I’m taking hydrocortisone but wondering when I should be taking it as I don’t want to completely shut down my ACTH if that’s possible. Is HC addictive and how long could I be on it or until I can come off of it normally?

Anyone that could help me understand this?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and wanted to ask some questions since I can't get into a specialist for another month and a half. Ok so 5 months ago i noticed I had lines going across my fingernails so I thought maybe it was a vitamin deficiency or something so I looked it up on good ole google,

Adrenal insufficiency: a general information post (does not replace medical advice)

Hi all - I just wrote an absolute essay in response to a question about adrenal insufficiency from steroids. Since this is a question that may crop up periodically (I know I've answered it before), I thought I would copy it here for general information, and to link to in other posts if anyone wants

Secondary adrenal insufficiancy??

Daleboy Today, 09:56 PM This is a long shot but im desperate. Im a 37 year old male who suffered from acute asthma as a young child. For approx 2 years (ages 4-6) i was injected with weekly doses of 'Synacthen' and then inhaled steriods there after. My growth was suppressed and am still small now.

Am I hypothyroid? All of my labs are "normal"!?

Hi Guys new here ( kinda ). I have had hashimotos for 10 years that I know of. Im not on meds yet because my labs are always "normal". I have went a little hypo and hyper once or twice but that about it. Meanwhile, I am sooo fatigued and have heart palpitations. I also developed SVT which I had an ablation
