Why does Endo say ACTH test is not relevant wouldn't a low result indicate secondary Addisons?
I wrote to him to ask for
ACTH
blood test because they didnt test this when i had my SST but he has refused. See attached letter. I really don’t understand this response particularly as he says even if
ACTH
is low they don't treat - surely a low result would indicate secondary Addisons?

Cortisol test results.
My
ACTH
output was good. All insulin type tests were normal. He recommended seeing a specialist in NY because my case is “complex”.After discussing this with my GP who is also board certified in rheumatology we decided no further investigation is warranted.

UPDATE synachten test - morning not possible
This is tricky, if I need to ask for
ACTH
test. Tiptoeing around making a request and also I am aware I would like to ask for it to be put straight on ice and sent to lab. But I know that is all going to go down like a lead balloon. Patient telling them what to do....

Stress and a Short Synathcen Test
It seems like there may be other alternatives which include the Glucagon test,
ACTH
and the insulin stress test, or am I barking up wrong trees? Do the NHS readily offer alternatives? Any ideas?

ACTH and adrenal glands awakening in GCA
Why is synthetic
ACTH
not used to trigger the adrenal glands into reawakening after a long suppression due to steroid treatment in GCA . At levels of around 4 mg when there is resistance experienced in normal functioning of the adrenals , would not synthetic
ACTH
stimulate the adrenals ?

With having MS for 32 years with many relapses and
ACTH
/solumedrol/prednisone, I was doing fine. Copaxone is the safest DMT with Covid Pandemic, I have been toldd. Yes, I am beyond the Tin Women of my unpredictable world.

Cortisol tests - can you explain?
My endo prescribed only the blood tests (
ACTH
and Cortisol AM) and said I need to go prior to 8am for the test. My GP said they did not know anything about the saliva tests and therefore would prescribe me the test. I live in an area where it is not legal to order our own saliva cortisol tests.

Hydrocortisone
I’m taking hydrocortisone but wondering when I should be taking it as I don’t want to completely shut down my
ACTH
if that’s possible. Is HC addictive and how long could I be on it or until I can come off of it normally?

Anyone that could help me understand this?
The next day she called and said my
acth
levels was a little low and to go see a endrocrinologist. I ended up there and showed her my skin and she said that could be liver disease. She took blood for a fibrosure test and that came back as fatty liver no fibrosis. I was so happy to hear that!

Adrenal insufficiency: a general information post (does not replace medical advice)
Sometimes the pituitary can start working again and sending
ACTH
(so you can sometimes recover from secondary AI if it's steroid-induced, which you cannot from Addison's), but sometimes the adrenals just stop bothering and won't produce what they need even when stimulated with
ACTH
.

Hello all, I posted my blood tests results a couple of weeks ago: FT3: 4.2 (range 3.5-6.5) (pre Levo level 3.9) FT4: 15 (range 11.5-22.7) (pre Levo level 10.8) TSH: 0.25 (0.55-4.78) (pre Levo level 0.34, but I am TSH deficient because of pituitary issues - also adrenal insufficient because of

Feeling rubbish! Advice please with latest tests, including vits
I have secondary adrenal insufficiency, (
ACTH
deficient) and have been on hydrocortisone for 9 years. Last September I started on Levothyroxine, (25mcg initially, now 25/50 mcg on alternating days), as it appears I’m becoming TSH deficient, and was becoming increasing symptomatic of hypothyroid.
