Acth test
I have just had an Short Synathcen test, and included was an
Acth
test as it's likely that my pituitary is failing. I did check before they took any blood that the
Acth
test sample would need to be placed on ice and rushed to the lab but the hospital seemed completely unaware of that.

Secondary adrenal insufficiancy??
I find it ironic that the very drug i was given all those years ago which could of caused my long term health issues is the same drug they use to do a 'one off'
acth
test. Is there anyone else ever been medicated long term with synacthen?

Dose increase after blood tests and Consultant appointment
I am
ACTH
deficient and have been on Hydrocortisone x3 daily for 8 1/2 years. It seems my Pituitary is now failing on the TSH front too, and while it is doing something, it's not enough! So central hypo really.

Persistent low level headache and dizziness since moving from oral MTX to injections . . . or just me being odd?
Finally, after seeing an Endocrinologist in December 2016 they worked out that I have absolutely no cortisol or
ACTH
.

Results are in - T3/T4. Does anyone know what the lower ranges for serum ACTH and DHEA are? My area uses 0 so I’m ‘normal’ apparently
The only thing is, the ranges for
ACTH
and DHEA start at zero, which I thought was weird. Also, I wouldn’t have tested my TSH, FT3 and FT4 yet as I’ve been slowly raising my T3 dose and got to 20 mcg a few weeks ago. What do you think? Any pearls of wisdom?

Another puzzle - Addison’s?
I’m waiting for a call from my doctor as she also asked for renin activity,
ACTH
and Aldostrone, but those results aren’t back yet. Does anyone know what this result might mean and what I should ask my doctor when she calls? Many thanks for any advice!

Blood tests after a trial of Levothyroxine
(I am already
ACTH
deficient and taking hydrocortisone x3 daily and now endo suspects I am becoming TSH deficient - T4 level has been steadily declining, and increasingly symptomatic of hypo). Blood results before the trial were FT3 3.9 (3.5-6.5), FT4 10.8 (10-18.7) and TSH 0.53 (0.55-4.75).

New Results, Need Advice Please.
ACTH
, Aldosterone, DHEAS are elevated. Could this be an adrenal issue? I would appreciate any suggestion from you knowledgeable members. He suggested increasing T4 to 125mcg and decreasing T3 to 5 mcg. I’m confused as to what I should do.

Cortisol Tests
The same again this week at 9.00 am by GP was 268 nmol/L I believe the next step will be for an
ACTH
but waiting to speak with my GP. Should I be concerned about these low results? Do you think there is any relevance in the increase in level over the 6 weeks?

Further tests
Hello, I am in the process of having further tests, one of which is for low cortisol and so an
ACTH
test is scheduled? Is it common for such a test to be given at a GP practice as I thought this was done by the endocrinologist?

Levothyroxine with Hydrocortisone
I am
ACTH
deficient (secondary Addison's Disease), so take Hydrocortisone as replacement therapy x3daily, and have done for 8 years now. (Looks like another function of my pituitary is now failing and becoming TSH deficient, hence symptoms of hypothyroidism).
