Short Synacthen Results - Help!
My
ACTH
(ng/L) was 18. Potassium (mmol/L) 4.4 Sodium (mmol/L) 141 I don’t have any reference ranges but would be greatful for any thoughts on my levels. I was told morning cortisol should be between 300-400 nmol/L.

Short Synacthen versus Adenal Saliva Cortisol Testing for Adrenal function
A recent Short Synacthen Test (SST) was 'suboptimal' according to my Endo with a score of 422 reached after 60 mins of
ACTH
injection. This is the same result I have had over repeated SSTs over several years.

Hi, I'm new
Within the next few weeks, VLCFA labwork (and
ACTH
+ cortisol for Addison's) confirmed that it is. Next, I guess my family members will get ABCD1 checked, starting with my mother. None of this feels real yet.

Low cortisol, T3, TSH and steroid injection in hip joint: T3 uptake improved by steroid injection?
I might try and find out about the
ACTH
test once I am 6 months away from the injection. If I have Secondary AI, could the steroid injection have caused my T3 uptake to be better than it has been?

Adrenals appointment
I also need to change my dosing from 5pm to 6am, which I could see is sensible as an
ACTH
surge happens at night and that may be knobbled by the Pred flooding in then. You never know, that alone might help me feel better later in the day.

Problems with Getting ACTH Test
It needs to take place at the doctor's office or a lab and neither of which is willing to order the cosyntropin for the
ACTH
test because they have to order it in bulk. One shot costs me about $120.00. That's a great deal of money when you depend upon disability to make ends meet.

ACTH Stimulation Test - Feeling Depressed
Has anyone had the
ACTH
stimulation test and felt really depressed the day after. My daughter had hers yesterday as her Cortisol was 50 with
ACTH
9.1. She felt fine other than a little nausea but has spent all today feeling really down and crying for no reason.

Fluctuating Cortisol Levels. Consultant mentioned secondary Cushings and potentially Addisons within 5 years due to unconfirmed asthma
I had the
ACTH
Stimulation test and was today told that the results of this were a high baseline cortisol level which went extremely high I had testing in 2015 for an adrenal tumour as I have fluctuating blood pressure and was told back then that one cortisol level was high, and the next was low, 12

More results help please...T3 or NDT?
If it didn’t work then he would do more tests, &/or look at low level steroid treatment (as I had a normal results short synacthen/
ACTH
test done, but felt GREAT after the steroid injection & had my first pain free days in over 2 years!!)

Newly diagnosed hypothyroidism
I went to see an Endocrinologist last week and awaiting the results of a series of blood tests including
ACTH
which I was told take about 10days. My GP has signed me off from work for 3 months.

Biting the Bullet and going private
I saw him on Saturday, full bloods taken, and yesterday I had the
ACTH
TEST for secondary hypothyroidism, as he seems to think my pituitary gland is not working properly. I am seeing him Friday for the results.

An insight into Dr Skinner and Dr Lindner's knowledge in diagnosing and treating hypo patients.
In fact physicians know better than to try to use pituitary hormone levels, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) or adrenocorticotrophic hormone (
ACTH
),to diagnose or treat hypogonadism or adrenal insufficiency.
