adrenal insufficiency/fatigue testing
We are about to send a saliva test off to Genova, but I saw a post by someone about a year ago saying that a GP could do a blood test for
ACTH
, aldosterone and cortisol and renin. Would this give an indication of adrenal insufficiency?

Levels of ACTH in the Morning
I had an
acth
blood test done recently, (8 am fasting). The results are back but I'm not seeing my doctor until Monday. Is it a normal
acth
blood level for the morning? (7.20 - 63.30 pg / mL ) 25.90 pg / mL If anyone can answer it would be greatly appreciated.

I am currently referred to an endo who has done 24 hr urine
ACTH
(?) test which he said came back 'borderline' and has followed it up with a blood test for which we are awaiting results.

ACTH stimulation test - Short Synacthen Test
Hello lovely people. Do you recommend the short synacthen test? Is it going to tell me anything useful. I'm not keen on any side-effects. I know I would have to come off my nutri adrenals before hand. Many thanks. Anna.

Tests for ACTH deficiency
Other than the short SynACTHen, can anyone recommend any tests for secondary adrenal insufficiency? As a much removed pituitary patient and persistence of symptoms despite T3 (which has definitely helped but not cured) I'm beginning to think of it as a possible culprit. As all find, it takes a good 3

Hashimoto's for 24 years and gastric dumping + most symptoms of Addison's but recently got "normal" syncathen test result what can I do??
So now I wonder if this is more to do with my adrenals than dumping syndrome - I have not had my
ACTH
tested when the syncathen test was done. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from you.

Recovering adrenal function study, posting
Among patients with a negative first
ACTH
test, recovery of adrenal function occurred in a mean time of 14 months; the maximal time until recovery was 51 months, and this patient needed five tests. Until 36 months, 41/48 (85%) patients, who were non-responders at the first
ACTH
test, had recovered.

Not Addison's?
I've just come back from my GP and she has given me the results of the
ACTH
stimulation test I have had done. BUT in the GP's words they are "advisory" only: Baseline cortisol: 622 30 mins: 915 60 mins: 985 So I guess that means Addison's is excluded.

Trouble with ordering adrenal stress test...
I was officially diagnosed with Hashimoto's 2 weeks ago and my endocrinologist has sent me for an
ACTH
test, the results of which have come back normal.

GP Appointment
- I asked him about this random stress urine test the Endo had done on me at my appointment and that the Endo told me that she would cancel the
ACTH
test if the urine test was normal.

Scan rescheduled for Tues due to heavy snow and extreme cold in Manhattan.
For patients at risk, a safe and reasonable way to proceed could be to taper GCs more slowly and to perform a first
ACTH
stimulation test before GC withdrawal. If this is abnormal, a second test should be performed after 12 and 24 months (if needed).

Stopping my thyroxine - a bad idea?
* I’m worried the
ACTH
result will be affected by the thyroxine. * I don’t feel any better on the thyroxine dose I am on. * Some people have accused me of being a hypochondriac.

Update. Hashimoto's confirmed but Endo thinks I could have Addison's as well. Does this make any sense?
My
ACTH
test is going to be booked quite urgently so they're looking at a week or 2 for me to have this done.
