YWA October Calendar: STILL

The new YWA October calendar with daily short Yoga video sessions popped into our mailboxes on the weekend, so here is our virtual workout space all prepared and ready for the start on the first of October.

Adriene announced the month as being one to be mindful: “This October we are turning a page, inviting in a new rasa, as we prioritize our mental health and emotional wellbeing…Slow down, experience a sense of peace, build strength, and inner connection”.

Looks great from where I am resting from a big day, my fourth 10k and about to set off on my 10k consolidation plan, as well as having signed up to a daily Pilates challenge. Too much? Naaahh, we got this! Right?

YWA October STILL, here our YWA LINKS:

And the YWA playlist is here:

And if you are just joining us, big WELCOME to you and any new Virtual Workout Buddies! The daily practice of YWA calendar is perfect to get started with Yoga.

And feel free to - as Adriene says - “find what feels good”, meaning if your knees feel too sensitive, amend that Child’s Pose. And if you find full planks are the stuff of nightmares, rather do half planks than full ones. I did for six month and am actually starting to enjoy planks! (I know, right ?!) And definitely get creative with props.

Here is a hopefully helpful post about YOGA props.

Here was my initial large collection of props, many of which I do not need anymore, but I certainly did in the beginning: healthunlocked.com/strength...

★ And if you want to see what last month’s Virtual Workout Room looked like, here the one for July :

Upwards, crow-wards and down dog-wards to this months practice!

Happy working out everyone!

This may sound like a stupid question but how do I do the yoga each day? I’ve never done yoga before but want to try, as on the 1st it’s wake up yoga, what do I do? Thanks in advance

No question is stupid 👍

Click on the link, then click on that day. Adriene usually says a quick hello, then there’s a little intro tune.

She really does say to find what feels good, so it honestly doesn’t matter if you’re an absolute beginner. Basically she will talk you through the moves, whilst doing them herself. She will often focus on breathing…nothing too scary there!

You can google all of her videos…there are lots of basic ones, concentrating on specific poses, so if you get a bit confused, or not sure about one, you can look it up. Use a blanket, or towel if you haven’t got a mat.

…as Adriene says… “pop into something comfy, and let’s get started…” 🥰

Thanks so much, LottieMW. As she outlined, keep that linked pdf calendar handy, as it has all the links day by day on the calendar.

Not sure if you have IOS or Android, but on IOS I keep the current month calendar as a bookmark on the IOS ‘desktop’, which I then just have to click on the day.

Welcome to the mat, and let us know how it goes. I only started a daily practice in January and I’ve never looked back!

Day 1 and 2: forgot to post yesterday, as we did it Kate before going to bed. As it was a 11min + 7min meditation it was perfect for before bedtime.

Day 2 was harder, the first 31 min practice bring quite doozy! I still can’t bend knees 180 degrees so hunching on toes is out of the question. I was glad once the meditation rolled along.

Day 4: did this new practice just after the Pilates, which was a nice different session. Whereas the Pilates really pushed my glutes to the point of feeling that burn, this meditation was simple becoming still! I liked that, especially before bedtime 🥱!

xxxx I fear I’m currently so full up with Pilates and Squats that I have let go of YWA got this month. It is a shame as this month really looked great. But then all her months do.

🤣🤣 Well, I am not quite sure that’s true…. 👀🔭 Did I not spot you doing something like 50seconds worth of planks? 😁😅👏👍🏽💪
