🧘🏾♂️Hello everyone, lots of us are doing the 30-day BREATH series from YWA, and there is a fabulous lively discussion on various posts about some of the challenges that we as individuals face. My own challenges are to do mainly with my knees, but posters also mentioned wrists, backs and other considerations when adapting existing poses.
📺 So I looked out some Yoga Props-related guidance videos, just to give ourselves some more ideas or confidences when we use various helpers to support our yoga sessions. They certainly helped me in confidently filling my corner of our living-room-workout space with pillows, blankets, yoga bricks and various other paraphernalia. (I’m also planning to steal one of my husband’s belts when he’s not looking, but pssst 🤫)
👝And if you have your own favourite piece of yoga-prop or any helping pets, feel free to share them by reply.
(Not having a dog or a cat I’m intrigued to know if every cat and dog, or any other pet, relaxes just like Adriene’s Benji whenever their owner is doing yoga 🐕🐈⬛🐄🐰🐍🐆🐪🐎🐖🦜?)
Only two videos, but I found both very interesting. And the third is a link to an article (thanks to @Roseabi) and just may be of interest to those who want to have a look behind the scenes. 🎭🎥🎤💻
So here we go:
Puzzle Fit (5:30 min) How to Use Yoga Props | Blanket | Bolster | Strap | Block |
I have a little helper, Harry who turns up on the mat as soon as the music starts, he’s besotted with Benji I think. Unfortunately, his own downward dogs, caused damage to my mat and I kept finding little blue foam “pimples” throughout the house, so I bought a new mat without pimples, because I love his company. I don’t have props, but a very thick dictionary “block”and tea towel “strap” work well.
Great post CBDB. 😀 I own 3 yoga blocks, 2 smaller yoga bricks, a lovely Mexican style blanket and a favourite pillow, commandeered for yoga only. 👍
I use a block/blanket/pillow (I mix and match) to sit on sometimes, the blanket and pillow for my crow emergency face plant padding, even though I don’t need those any more in theory, and the bricks for camel assistance - a tricky (for me) back bend pose.
I also use Adriene’s yummy recipe yoga mat spray beforehand, to make it smell nice, and afterwards, to clean it. 🥰 Here it is:
And finally I always have my dog on the bed watching, as well as my cat sometimes too. They’re both used to my yoga and don’t bat an eyelid any more! 🐾🧘♀️🐾
And, tell no one, but if do yoga before running, I often do it in my PJ’s. She does say “hop into something comfy” after all! 🤣
Hee! My dogs definitely don’t just chill like Benji, probably because I am doing it just after they’ve had their breakfast when they usually have a short bout of rough play 🙈
I have both my dogs doing it with me , but generally they just think its an opportunity to lie of their backs and wait for me to tickle their tummies, then they try to lick my face when in downward dog!!Just caught up with session 2 from yesterday as I didn't get chance and |I also did 5km run earlier so I should sleep tonight!
