Yesterday was the big day.
The last two years I started to help and could only just Pick up the 25kg bags of 70/30 top soil. We have three tonnes of 25kg bags to move. Two years ago I was just 7 months post op so that didn’t bother me too much, last year when I struggled to pick the bags up but was totally unable to lift them into the hopper it really upset me. I have always been strong, in my 20’s I was a trainee body builder so it really didn’t fit with me at all.
So over the year I have been going to the gym and really upping my strength work to get more power. One or twice a week. I have one specific exercise which I have nick named the end of season, I have put a photo which is the closest I could find, it is not the best but you can see the idea.
The outcome was yesterday I worked with all the lads and could lift the 25kg bags up to three positions on the hopper, after that my ability to lift was gone but looking at everyone else they were using a swinging motion to get the bags to the 6 stack level, that was all apart from the guy that does it every day who was treating 25kg bags like they were 1kg bags of flour 😀. I would say the work has paid off and I will definitely be carrying on.
Worth the years work ✔️.
Keep going everyone. Rfc x
