Back on track again this week. I crammed a weeks worth of running and gym into four days last week, the final gym session left me with a niggly knee so I just had my 2km walks for a few days this week to rest it up.

I went back to the gym yesterday and did my planks and squats.

End of season at the Bowls club means a busy busy time. Next week I have to be fit enough to be lugging 25kg bags of top soil into a hopper, every year I work to be better at this. After having two frozen shoulders my ability to lift weights above my shoulders went down quite a bit but I have been doing specific exercises for this for a whole year now, so it is going to be interesting to see how I manage after a whole year of training 😀.

I am sure you will be able to lift those 25kg bags of top soil very easily now that you have done all those exercises at the gym, that's a good photo, not you but you can do that just as easily as the lady in that photo.

Cramming a week into 4 days is intense, well done! I read somewhere that once we are conditioned to the exercise fully it doesn’t matter so much if we take 3 rest days or one three day rest... but I beg to differ the day after my long run!

Hopefully the above shoulder lifting will have improved a lot... otherwise you could toss the bags in at the op of a squat 🤣

For me it’s not good to miss a down day between sessions, that is where the move every day really helps me, I feel more comfortable breaking up the bigger sessions with a day of stretches or 2km Walk.

I am hoping it has improved some, until I had the frozen shoulders I mucked in with everyone lugging 3 tonne of 25kg bags, it was such a shock when my muscles just could and would not do it any more, another reason why I am going into old age as strong as I can, it is not nice when your body just says NO.☹️.

I’m much the same as you... long run means gentle day follows for sure, usually a walk ticks the box nicely.

We are preparing for old age well, but I have noticed one area that seems to be lost. I can outrun my daughter for distance, and pace over 5k... but over 400m I cant stay anywhere near her. The other night though I ran my run and she started sprinting her 400m as I was at the apex of the bend with about 500m to go... passed her quite easily. Can’t see myself trying to get my 400m pace back up though, that would hurt!

I would never try to outpace a youngster, 😂, that would never end well for me, hehe one of the reasons I run either on my own or with 14,000 people 😂.

The time is coming where she will be waiting for me at the end of a parkrun... I’m looking forward to that day, but I’m not going to make it easy for her 🤣

Now, I felt sure that was you in the photo Rfc...You are really cracking on with those exercises and by the sound of it you are needing those exercises...take care humping those bags around!

Let us know how that goes, and it is going to count as one heck of a work out too!! x

Hehe, I wish 😀. I know as part of my move every day I don’t use housework or gardening but I think I might make an exception for this one 😀. Still going though, every day this year so far. Rfc x
