August approaches and so the countdown to school starting again is well and truly on for all parents!
As we welcome August in what one thing will we be adding into our routine this week? It may be something we forget to do, maybe even something we don’t particularly like but is good for us. Sometimes it’s something that isn’t as obvious as doing a specific exercise.
Have fun this week with just one extra thing.

I’m going outside the box this week again. My one thing will be doing nothing for an extra 2 hours a day. I usually sleep for 6 hours and so I’m going to go to bed earlier and get up later. Sleep is good for us, our muscles recover and strengthen overnight and we recharge the batteries, so after years of being a 6 hour sleeper I’m going to try 8 and see if I feel better for it.
I tried this last night, but woke up at 4am... I refused to get out of bed though, hopefully I’ll sleep longer tonight.
Not sure what challenge I could set myself for the month of August, I ran my first 6K there on Sunday, could run a 7K this weekend as I am not going to a parkrun, it's cancelled because there is another event in the park, midweek I could run one kilometer more a week between the 5K at the weekend gradually getting up to 10K by the end of the month.
I have a pair of 5 Kilogram kettlebells, could do some exercises with them, Russian or American swing, curls, or lie flat on my back and do 40 up down arm push ups with them a day. 😊 If I do 40 up down arm push ups a day in August that would be 1240 reps for the month.
Hehe I’m on the ball this week. I did a joint gym and swim yesterday with some stretch work. It felt good as I could not fit it in last week as I was mega busy. I have found a really nice 10 min Pilates with a stability ball. I think I might try and do that this week, I am hoping for a 17km outing tomorrow either 5 or 7km Run made up to 17km with a walk. I did that last year once a month and it just keeps me HM fitter. As I got close to the HM I increased the run time building up to 17km. I have to have a bit of a down week with the 17km as not to over train. ☹️.
