Push ups

I found a great push up training routine. 3 times a week and by end of it you will be doing 130 push ups, all be it in 5 sets with 1min rest in between. Just finished week 4. I'm up to 95. I can see and feel the difference in my body already.

Scroll to the bottom plan. There's a bit of reading etc. I use the 2nd plan as it varys each set.

That sounds like a great achievement. I can do assisted push ups and am working towards full ones.

130 is huge... I managed to get to 50 but never pushed further. 95 in 4 weeks is great and there’s no doubt you’ll take down that 130. The arm and shoulder strength is gonna make your swimming easier for those Triathlons. Your journey has been epic and I’m looking forward to seeing how far you go.

Thank you. I'm loving all this new lease of life I seem to have. Have to say I had to dig deep on Friday there to finish the last set.

Wow, that is amazing! Very well done on your progress. I don't like press-ups but have challenged myself to achieving a proper straight legged press up (Rfc's April Challenge on S&F). At the moment I can only do half-standing or bent legged ones ;)

Hi Johnny, strangely enough around January 2018 when I was browsing the Internet looking for exercises for 65+ year olds, this was about 4 months before I began C25K, there was this video about push ups, the instructor said for my age group to do 100 pushups in around 18 minutes, what that involved was say I started at exactly on any hour, so at 9 o'clock I would do 10 with around a 90 second break, another 10 at 2 minutes past 9 and so on, I've worked that out as around 18 minutes. So I started doing them and perhaps it helped me when I started with C25K 4 months later. Recently I have been only having a minute break berween them, not two minutes.

Wow Johnnylewis - you are my new hero. 100 press ups - that’s amazing! My aim is to do one full press up. I have made a 30 day plan to get me there 🤞

Awwh thanks. Don't think I've been called a hero before. I'm not really, I'm. Just a normal Guy trying to catch up. On 20.years that he neglected his health and fitness lol.

Try doing them in sets with 60-90 secs rest in between. On the rest stretch and shake your arms.
