Is there a particular website, or person that you have read about that is advocating this? I have never ever heard that celery has any specific benefits (other than the obvious nutritional ones) on any health condition. I was fascinated to read your post so I googled celery and autoimmune conditions and wow, it is amazing what claims people make from a mere vegetable. If celery were a miracle cure for scleroderma (or any other autoimmune condition) then the medical community would not remain ignorant of it (as one website claims) but instead would be prescribing it to everyone! We would have endless research trials confirming the wonders of it or would make it into pills.

I am sure that celery is a wonderful vegetable...and makes a lovely base for many sauces, soups, stews etc and is great with a bit of houmous on! So, it makes a great addition to a healthy diet...not to mention that it is good for dieters because it takes more calories to eat and digest than it puts into the body, but as a cure for scleroderma? I am afraid I remain unbelievably sceptical until proven otherwise. Especially when I read websites from people who have no medical qualifications...or dubious ones at best.

Looking forward to hear what you have heard.

All my best

I have been watching some YouTube videos about celery juice. Gut Feelings is the channel. The idea has come from a book called Medical Medium, the authors name escapes me, but it is easily found on amazon. I have done it intermittently but I hope to do a full week in a row then on to everyday. I am working on eliminating gluten, dairy, eggs, soy and sugar.

Hi there, I was trying to find out a bit more about this man who makes such interesting claims about his talents, but has no discernible medical qualifications and I came across a couple of links expressing significant concerns about this chap and the advice he gives.

It is so hard to find reliable advice and to find out who is telling the 'truth' about any health problems. Just be a bit wary if you are planning to make any radical changes to your normal health regime.

For the record I am not pro the pharmaceutical industry. It is full of money making unscrupulous people...but it has also developed many life saving interventions. I hate taking medication and I take as little as I can get away with. I am all for making healthy diet and lifestyle choices that we alone have control of. I would never just rely on doctors and medications to help me deal with scleroderma. But, it also makes me furious when there are unqualified quacks who use the internet to peddle their unfounded untested rubbish to people.

I am not sure drinking a glass of celery juice a day on an empty stomach is going to any harm to my well being, I am already on hydroxychloriquine, which is bad enough, so, if I can eliminate the huge dose of omeprazole I take everyday by using something that grows out of the ground naturally I think it’s worth a try. That, along with eating a healthy diet and probably doing some intermittent fasting is my plan. I have not purchased his book, so I am not a decouple. I am just juicing a bunch of celery and drinking the juice.

yes @amc282 i think it would be worth a try ...i have been diagnosed with Limited Scleroderma and in my search came across medical medium that suggest celery juice....i think there's no harm in trying something natural that can help MANAGE THE SYMPTOMS as medical medium does not say that celery juice is a cure to the disease but it helps to stop the disease from growing further, if medical medium advise in followed correctly.

The medical community is highly influenced by huge pharma interests. Pharma companies prefer to produce drugs that will be taken regulary ensuring a regular income for pharma companies.

Healthcare is a business. Cures would damage profits.

Doctors work within strict guidelines, and most of their treatments are drug based.

Are you completely sure that in an information age we really can't get to the bottom of what is causing such levels of chronic illnesses and have ways to help avoid them.

Personally I have started drinking just a glass of celery juice most mornings first thing.

I BELEIVE it has helped me with acid reflux issues

I don't go in for the chugging jar fulls of juice. A glass is enough for me. It does work out quite expensive as I will only juice organic celery. Celery having a high water content, I want it to be as untainted as possible.

I have been drinking celery juice most mornings for maybe a month now.

Yes, this is what I will try to do, in addition with my Hydroxychloriquine. Which, in itself is pretty horrible. I just thought if I coul esse up on the omeprazole that might be a good thing. I am taking loads of supplements and really working on changing the diet, which can be challenging.

If diet is changed in a good way nutritionally then it's all beneficial. What you mustn't do is the sort of diets that lead to deficiencies in one area or another.

I have had severe Raynauds for 40 years and was diagnosed with Scleroderma 10 years ago. I have kept my symptoms under control for the last 3 years by juicing daily ( not just celery) and I am halfway through a 4 week juice cleanse at the moment.

Our western diet and conventional medication is not for me. Watch Joe Cross Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. Inspirational!

After having scleroderma for about 4 years now I’ve had to take my health in my own hands. I started learning about the body & diet and the reason why celery along with a diet rich in fruit & vegetables is helping is because they help kill off bacteria & viruses as well as boost immune system and decrease inflammation. This is something modern medicine will not & can not tell you because it goes against protocols they have to push pharmaceuticals. I found a holistic/doctor that did a test & sure enough I had bacteria overload & he has me on long term antibiotics I’m doing so much better this treatment was known by the medical community a long time ago is what my rheumatologist finally admitted to me but they stopped it & started pushing more toxic meds like steroids & immune suppressants. Go to roadback.org you can learn more about it as well as locate doctors that will do the appropriate tests to see if it’s bacteria related and actually help you get to root cause instead of just treating symptoms & masking the real issue.

Only problem with anti biotics is they are like a carpet bomb on the microbiome.

The ideal is to have a properly functioning microbiome with a variety of microbes working together.

There are two types of antibiotics bactericidal & bacteriostatic. The bactericidal actually kill bacteria & mess up microbiome, the bacteriostatic just inhibit it’s growth. This is tetracycline it just inhibits the growth you have to get your immune system good to fight it off that’s why it’s a slow process. I also do probiotics, yogurt or kefir milk often. The kind of bacteria it is mycoplasma doesn’t have a cell wall so it suppose to not be able to get resistant as well.

Hi Bec,

How long have you been on this new regime? Do you mind describing how you were feeling prior to starting this new regime and how you’re feeling now? Have you stopped any medication and which one if so? How do your symptoms compare before and after?

Does this treatment cause other issues like yeast infections?

Yeast thrives on sugar or on foods that break down into sugars. If you can reduce your sugar intake, or foods that break down into sugars you will begin to starve the yeast cultures

My son persuaded me to try this because it helped his friend’s severe eczema so much she was able to return to work.

I did it faithfully for three months (I like the taste anyway). It didn’t do anything for me.

"The Environmental Working Group, a non-partisan health and environmental watchdog group, released its annual Dirty Dozen List for 2019, a roundup of non-organic produce that tests the highest for pesticides that include chemicals to keep away rodents, insects and mold. So, which fruits and vegetables have the most pesticide residue?"

"Celery grown conventionally was found to have up to 13 pesticides on a sample, and over 95 percent of all samples tested positive for pesticides. Because of the high percentages, celery slipped into the top 10 of the dirty dozen this year."
