Concerned by Raynaud symptoms and positive ANA

I’m 41 and have developed Raynaud symptoms. Not painful. But cold and a multitude of colours. Also hands flare when stressed. Coupled with that I was getting some hard, red spots on left hand. Went to doctor who carried out some blood tests. In the meantime the spots went away.

Blood tests revealed a positive ANA. Doctor said without further symptoms not to worry.

Since then I have stiff fingers right hand, my first finger swelled for a couple days. Pain from first finger up to elbow. I also notice I get red, warm knees some evenings.

I also, of late, react badly to alcohol - make my knuckles, face, chest hot with a red rash. Will cut out alcohol altogether and also looking at the AIP diet.

Should I return to the doctor for further testing?

Many thanks

If you are concerned about your symptoms you should go back to your GP as you are obviously worried. The SRUK is a valuable source of information. Systemic sclerosis is very variable. Maybe join a local SRUK support group if there is one near you. I hope this helps.

Start working with a physio on your small joints, or follow youtube tutorials for physio and be careful not to push your limits

go to an immune doctor now and have the right testing and do some research even though you are ana positivethere is amlodipine, slindelifil they can put you on methotrexate if you have scleroderma which i do and lupus and osteoarthritis. do not lose hope. rheumatologist now. paraafin wax is great for hands, wear gloves when its cold outside. i have the redspots all over my chest and stomach they are harmless. probiotics, and tumerick with pepper helps a lot, fish oil, nuts, biotin for hair, counselor for support. pain management. i have tested ositive 4xs positive now i refuse to give up. gemini ok we are stubborn. get your family to support you. support is everything. try to divert your mind away from the pain and turn it down hobby. hope that helps. contact the scleroerma foundation also they can help you. love julie
