Hello everybody, oh the joys of looking after my 11yr old granddaughter!! First week in, and we have had a day out at a museum, a macdonalds breakfast! a walk through a wood, and today some baking, I know what you"re thinking isn"t it hot enough in the house without the oven being on, but heyho, there"s nothing like the smell of mini fruit cakes, mmm. Oh and to cool down, a 40 minute water fight in my back garden!! ok so I am 62 yrs old, but it was great pretending I was 11 again, so I was soaked to the skin, dripping wet hair, but hey didn"t we both have fun, then indoors to taste the fruit cakes. So what if my fingers were a tad blue, it was well worth it, I can tell you. So if you get the opportunity to be a child again, go out in your back garden and have a water fight, there"s nothing like it! and when she went home, I was smiling and waving, as was she!

I guarantee you that even though you had a great time your granddaughter had so much more because you loved her enough to engage in the cherished activities that every 11 year old wants to have with a grandmother. You said youβre 62...my brother has a new way of calculating our second childhood age. You just add the digits of your age together...in this case you are 8 years old. now isnβt that precious that an 11 and 8 year old were enjoying a wonderful Summer day with all the adventures 2 children can have together?!!!
Thank you for sharing and I wish I could have been your granddaughter and shared this fabulous day with you too.
I love you β€οΈ for loving her and life this much. May more grandmas be more like you sweetie. Keep up the good work. π€π

Hello honeybug, I am now planning next weeks activities! I have her everyday during school hols, as well as 2 days after school every week. I am lucky that I have been involved with her and her sister since they were babies, so have millions of memories! That said her older sister is now 15, and is far too cool to be seen with her nana and sister, unless its eating out or the cinema. haha.
That sounds like perfect day to me, there's nothing like children to make us feel young again! And those cakes too...mmm!!!π
