LAST WEEK OF SCHOOL HOLS

Hello everybody, I hope you have some sunshine where you are, and you are keeping as well as you can. Well, sadly this is the last week of summer hols, although I do have one more day to spend with my granddaughter, because she doesn"t go back to school until next Tuesday. It has been a short week because of the bank holiday, so we started our last week together with breakfast at Macdonalds on Tuesday and library duty in the afternoon, my granddaughter is always a great help. Wednesday was a trip to the coast, namely Scarborough, with a walk along the pier, fish and chips for lunch, and then we hit the amusement arcades, only on the 2p machines I hasten to add, always great fun, and I couldn"t refuse my granddaughters request of her having a paddle, I had to forego that, due to the fact that my granddaughters face said it all when she paddled, that the water was very cold!! But it was great to see her jumping the small waves. Yesterday was our usual bike ride, tree climbing was the order of the day, she climbs higher every time! Picnic lunch and home again, although we did stop on the way back to sit on the railings by the river and play pooh sticks and seeing how far we could throw stones! Today was chilling out, and making bread, yum yum the smell of freshly baked bread was lovely, and so that"s it, these past 6 weeks have flown by, only Monday to go, I have enjoyed childish things and great company and conversations. Roll on half term! Smile and wave folks, smile and wave, xxxxxx

Hi Penny, I think I"m the lucky one, in having been involved with my granddaughter and her older sister since they were babies, I have been there practically every week day. My granddaughter refers to my home has her second home!!! Her older sister who is 15 now, hardly ever visits, perhaps once a month, she is a typical older teenager I suppose, but I cherish the memories of the times we were close. My friends always say that my daughter is very lucky that she has me, and has never had to worry about the cost of childcare. My granddaughter is the only one I have close contact with, her mum (my daughter) works 5 days, so when the weekend comes she likes to spend it with what she refers to has family time, so weekends are rather a lonely time for me, but I have my garden and whilst we still have this sunshine I shall potter in that. It must be difficult having your granddaughter in America, how old is she? Thank goodness for technology. Sending you hugs xxxx

Hi babyinny, thanks for your kind words, I think my daughter just has so much to do, and I do get to go out for the odd cinema visit, or trip out, I am luckier than a lot of people who don"t see any family at all. In answer to your question does she know about my scleroderma and raynauds yes she does, I guess I dont like to burden them with my not so good days, and has for my depression, I think she finds it difficult to understand, but I have my telephone assessment for counselling next week so hopefully won"t have to wait long to see a counsellor, and I do use the samaritan helpline if I feel particularly down, and of course there is always this wonderful site! thanks again, xxxx

Hello Fairy

I think we hide a lot from family as they don't see our pain.

My son lives a bit away from me and him and my daughter inlaw work full time. l must admit I do feel very annoyed when he tells me they cant visit as they they have been so busy all week and they need some family time .He then say its really Innes (thats my grandson )you want to see not us lol .I think they forget we have been through it all whist bringing them up and we can appreciate how hard it is to fit things in.I hope you manage to see a counsellor soon and you can start feeling a bit better .I must say you do incredibly well in all the things you manage to do through the pain barrier and your depression you are an inspiration .And of course this is a fab sight for chatting to folk especially when we meet such wonderful people like you .sending lots of love and hugs xxx take care Kathy
