Hi all. I have recently started to suffer really bad mouth ulcers at the moment I have 4 very large ones. I have just had iloprost infusions and started taking mycofenolate. Could they be the cause or even scleroderma. I have never had mouth ulcers before and can't understand why now. Lindy

Scleroderma and ulcers
Yes, Cellcept is known to cause this complication in some people. You need to let your doctor know asap. Hope you get relief soon.
Hi, when I was first diagnosed with Scleroderma in September 2014, while I was in hospital I was given a soluble aspirin in a small amount of water to use as a mouth wash to help relieve the mouth ulcers. You mustn't swallow it but it did help, but only do this with medical advice. I get mouth ulcers occasionally and I take Prednisolone and mycophenolate mofetil (Cellcept) and if I get an ulcer I put a small amount of table salt in a cup with some boiling water, let it cool and use as a mouth wash, DO NOT SWALLOW, this has helped.
Good luck
Also - possible B12 or iron deficiency, maybe worth getting a blood test? I've had occasional mouth ulcers nothing to do with medication and find that marmite helps - if you like it! Hope they heal soon
Hello there, I am sure it will be the mycophenolate. Tell your consultant, and/or specialist nurse. You might need some folic acid supplementation. There are some mouthwashes that your GP can prescribe to help you...for example, Difflam, or a steroid mouthwash. The other tips about salt washes and aspirin are good too. Take care xxx
