For years I had an itchy scalp, drove me crazy! The GP prescribed different shampoos but none of them worked for me. What did help, was Alphosyl shampoo/conditioner from the chemist (Boots) You have to keep using it until the problem is under control, and follow the instructions fully. Now I just use it when needed, but it was excellent for me. Please note, everyone is different so what works for one, might not work for another, just wanted to tell you my experience.

Thank you carol, I will get some today and give it a go. I've been on antibiotics for a long time, I thought it might have something to do with the drugs. Thanks again x

The itch is probably due to your scalp skin changes due to scleroderma. The worse thing you can do is scratch. These things come in cycles. they come and go. Your scalp needs moisturisers rather than medication as the skin on your forearms and feet probably. But if you have scratched too much you will need to heal that.

I think you could be right, I had this condition about 6 months ago, I used cold tar and it worked, but now it's back, I think I might try some coconut oil, got to do something it's driving me potty . Thanks Zenabb x

Sorry to hear you've been in so much discomfort. I spent years using baby shampoo as it was so mild, but then got a really itchy scalp, I researched on line about natural and "chemical" remedies, some of the chemical ones you need to look at the main ingredient as different problems require different ingredients. I've ended up using head & shoulders for coloured hair, and it is working.

You can but try, unfortunately that's the only way you'll find what's right for you. I hope you can start to manage it soon, I know how awful it can be, and people are not always sensitive to it.

Hi Rosie-girl, process of elimination, it's going to be a long road to find what works. I will add head & shoulders to my list . New problems crop up with Scleroderma every day, I've had it for 23 years and I'm still learning that other symptoms can be put down to Scc, like dental pain and itchy scalp. Is there a part of our bodies that it doesn't affect???? Thanks for reply x

do you feel like your itch is also like sand in your hair? mine itches and "feels" like I should be able to dig it off, but I cant, of course. I have cross-over autoimmune diseases, including scleroderma. I just started on here, so i'm not sure i'll be able to find my way back for your answer. we'll see.

I know, it's awful to do elimination.

there are a few gd web pages which go through symptoms, your hair type, and the actual condition you are experiencing.

Natural remedies include, coconut & olive oil, cider vinegar, if you have pintrest you can also search through that. All the best
